WITTY AND STEAMY LITTLE REGENCY, Mar 13 2010
By M. Hebdige "Nanette Hebdige" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Make Me Yours (Mass Market Paperback)
I typically don't go for small Harlequin reads - as I find that I want a book that is longer and meatier.
Wow, did MAKE ME YOURS pleasantly surprise me! It was a marvelous read - one that makes you devour each page from first to last! I have read most of Krahn's past work and was glad she had a new novel out, as I hadn't seen any new books from her in a while.
With the dialogue witty, enchanting repartee and two charming main characters coupled with plenty of hot steamy sex, this was wonderful, spicy Regency.
I loved Mariah, a beautiful and intelligent widow who has been selected by the Price of Wales as his latest paramour. There is just one problem: The Prince will not entertain having an affair with a woman that is unmarried - so he sends off one of his trusted friends, Jack St. Lawrence to fetch her and take her to her next husband from a list of carefully selected men.
The only way that Mariah will even entertain the decree of being married again is if she personally interviews each candidate to make her selection. Jack, who is attracted to the saucy and beautiful widow, is forced to travel with her as she personally meets every man on the list and clearly he realizes after each interview that her objections at all the candidates are more than valid.
Jack is quickly drawn to Mariah - her intelligence, sense of humor and sensuality are a lethal combination where he needs to shy away from!
Mariah's first husband, an older man who enjoyed teaching her about the pleasures of the flesh - even positions from the Kama sutra, has taught her well and now she is turning her sensual wiles on Jack, who eventually succumbs to the desire he intensely feels for Mariah.
As passions flare and sex is hotter than flames, both realize that they are falling in love and have to try to subtly extract themselves from the situation involving Mariah and the Prince.
With the sex scenes explicit and unusual, two characters that are very well matched and some tender, touching moments - this is a little gem of a book! Highly recommended!

great historical romance, July 1 2009

This review is from: Make Me Yours (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1887 English widow Mariah Eller owns and runs the Eller-Stapleton Inn. When nobles to include Bertie the Prince of Wales get drunk at her inn and start causing problems, Mariah calmly outsmarts them.
Bertie is hooked by the brave intelligent tavern owner and orders her to be his royal mistress. The only way for her to avoid Bertie is with a husband. She once gain outwits the male aristocracy when she decides to go after Bertie's loyal friend Jack St. Lawrence. He wants her, but fears the reprcussions of stealing the Prince's propsed next mistress and worse worries how his family will react to her occupation. He underestimated the force of his Mariah.
MAKE ME YOURS will be on the best of the year list of historical romances as this is a great jocular late Victorian with a great fresh concept. Mariah is fantastic as all she wants is preventing the drunks from wrecking her tavern, but consequently must deal with the unwanted adulation of the royal; as one thing leads to another and another, etc. Jack is caught between a hard place and an even harder place as he is in love with the tavern owner who is supposed to be the prince's woman not his; and of course he expects the scorn of his aristocratic family if he chooses Mariah. However soon the prince, Jack who knows nothing, and even a pauper will learn not to mess with the wind they call Mariah.
