This three-disc set contains all 16 episodes from the irreverently funny first season. The series instantly toned things down a tad from the pilot episode that saw Lois body-shaving a naked hirsute Hal in the kitchen. But it brilliantly sustains its subversive tone, from episode two, in which the brothers stand united against Lois's increasingly desperate methods to uncover who burned her red dress, to the season finale, in which Malcolm dares to push her down a water slide. Not that there aren't sublimely sweet moments, as in that season finale when Dewey bonds with his elderly babysitter (Bea Arthur!) over Abba's "Fernando." First and foremost, this is the best show ever made by fox and possible ever put on television. Obviously I'm angry that fox won't release the furrther seasons because it would cost them more. You have to remember fox would still be turning a profit, they just don't care about the devoted customers. That's big business for you. And Francis is too cool for school.

malcolm in the middle is funnier than funny.i would give it more than 5 stars if i could.i couldnt stop watching it when i first put it on, i almost burned out my dvd player.it gets funnier and funnier the more you watch it.my best episode would have to be rollerskates,when malcolm wants to learn how to skate but reese and francis wont tell him what hal does to teach them.lois shouts at reese and does her back in and francis fakes an injury to avoid a survival exercise, but he learns his lesson.at the moment i am watching season 3 of the tv show and so far it is brilliant.francis has quit millitary school and gone to alaska, hal has had a health scare, malcolm,reeseand,dewey traded there stuff for better stuff while helping charity and dewey wanted a pet but had to look after a goldfish first.at the moment i am wondering when are they releasing the rest of the seasons on dvd?buy this dvd collection now.
