Typical, but good., Dec 16 2003
This review is from: Mallrats (Audio CD)
This is pretty much just what you would expect. A random collection of mid-90's alternative bands, some good, some ok. The bigger bands here are "Bush", "Weezer", "Elastica", "Belly", "Sublime", and "Silverchair", but most of the songs are good. The best thing though is the inserts from the movie. Most are funny, and make you recall the film pretty well. Anyone who likes this disc, should like "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back" also. It's the same type of thing, with more diverse bands, and inserts as well.

A superb soundtrack, brimming with BRILLIANCE!, Mar 9 2003
This review is from: Mallrats (Audio CD)
I own a lot of soundtracks, and by that, I mean two. Mallrats is the best one I have. As if the film wasn't good enough (which, of course, it was), we have the soundtrack to keep us company. Unlike the previous soundtracks of the 'Jay And Silent Bob' series, the songs on this one are thrown all over the place and are in absolutely no order whatsoever.
As usual, fun little soundclips appear between songs, to remind us how much we love this movie. Then we are treated to magic songs by Bush, Elastica, Belly, Girls Against Boys, Thrush Hermit, Sublime, and silverchair. But the standout songs on this album are the ones by Weezer, Archers of Loaf, All, Squirtgun, The Goops, and Sponge. But that's only because I have an odd taste in music. I love ska, for god's sake, and don't get me started on 'Sublime'. That ain't what I's talkin' 'bout.
Overall, the Mallrats soundtrack is a fun little piece to pick up, if you're either a fan of the film and/or you like this kind of music, which, might I add, is eight years old. But it's still a timeless classic, sure to please even the coldest of hearts.
The movie still kicks ....
Luv,
Muttz!
