I watched The Man from Earth yesterday because of the flood of positive comments I had seen. The premise seemed a little weird but I gave it a shot and it blew me away! It's rare for a movie to get you so involved that you forget where you are, what time it is and even that your thirsty.

The premise is simple by itself, a man who was born 12 000 years ago is still alive to this day and tells a group of friend. It is the way it's brought to us, and how clever the conversations are that sucks you in.

Although it's a low budget film and only use one location to film in, it doesn't feel cheap. The acting is also pretty decent.

I'm usually not a fan of independant films but this one shouldn't be missed. Especially if your tired of the dumbing down of hollywood to appeal to the masses.

A dialogue driven, well paced, remarkable movie. I 've seen it three times and still get goose bumps. No blood, no chase scenes, just a great script from the one time Twilight Zone writer, well acted and very thought provoking. A four star "hidden gem"

This is one of my favourite films and it never fails to hold the viewer's attention. My only disappointment is the awful picture quality of the blu ray transfer - which has the same quality as my pirated copy. It also has zero extra content. It would've been nice to see some interviews with the actors.

movie = 5/5
blu ray = 1/5

I just saw this and was riveted from beginning to end. No special effects, no action, no rush... just a group of friends in a room listening to the incredible revelation of someone close to them. At first they entertain it as a joke, or the plot line for a new book, so they just go with it and challenge him in an effort to keep the game going... but their skepticism soon turns to hope (well, some of them) that what he's saying may be true. Any acting shortcomings are soon forgotten as the story slowly sucks you in. Oh... you don't want to miss the ending (sorry, no spoilers).
