Henry Cavill can act very well. He looks like he should be Superman. He has built up his muscles for this role. But what a waste of this talented Englishman. The movie is all special effects, one after the other. I know that is what a large section of the potential audience for these films want, but they are almost all teenagers. Couldn't they have done something with the story line to hold our interest when we're over 25? The supporting cast gets the best moments, though Kevin Costner seems to be looking for his "Field of Dreams". Russell Crowe gets inside Superman's father's skin well and helps make the back story more believable and pleasurable than the newly conceived idea to this movie. At least Lois isn't too dumb to recognize that Superman and Clark Kent are one and the same.
Not a misfire, the movie simply is too much of a show for the special effects people. If there is a sequel, there will surely be another start to another Superman series since they make money, one can only hope that someone sits down and writes a screenplay that a ten year old couldn't have done.
