5.0 out of 5 stars Money well spent May 18 2012
Color Name:Midnight
I just received my PROlite mat (it arrived one day early!) and I used it during my Bikram yoga practice yesterday. I just love it!
After taking it out of the box, it did have a bit rubber smell. I just hang it out for a day and during my yoga session, the smell was almost all gone.
I notice the support it gave my back and my tree pose was definitely more steady too. I place a microfiber towel over top while I practice.
You can't get a better price elsewhere...I checked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great yoga mat. May 13 2013
Color Name:Midnight|Verified Purchase
This mat is thick and sticky without feeling too heavy or too much like a synthetic plastic. The cloth-like finish on the top side of the mat is a great texture. It doesn't hurt my hands when I press into it while doing planks like other mats or a terry-cloth towel might. The bottom of the mat also has a unique texture that minimizes slippage. I practised for a year on a super-thin, no-cushion mat just to avoid practising on the floor and then I made the switch to this mat. This is super comfortable mat. I recommend it to everyone in my yoga classes. I practise often at a room-temperature ashtanga studio but I've also used the mat (with and without a towel) at hot yoga studios. If the studio is too hot then I sweat too much and drip all over the mat, requiring a towel to mop it up. One of the benefits of the mat is that it doesn't absorb sweat, but the downside is that the surface becomes slippery in that case. I suggest bringing a small towel to mop up excess sweat from the mat during really hot yoga classes but it's not necessary if you don't drip and make puddles with your sweat.

I carry this mat around a lot, from home to the studio to work and school. I don't drive and it is still not that heavy or bulky. It is not too heavy for plane travel, and is a good compromise between super-thick and portable. I think the Manduka Black/Pro mat would have been too heavy for me I'm glad that I got this one. I think it's the perfect thickness for most yoga practitioners. I do not need to fold my mat over to support my knees, even if I press a bit more into the knee cap bones than I should in some poses. The mat is think enough to fully cushion my knees. I recently brought this mat on a transcontinental flight and I didn't feel that it was too heavy to transport.

Excellent quality mats. However it will slip a bit if you sweat. Consider getting yoga gloves for better grip. Don't give up on this mat just because it is a bit slippery times. Great quality and because it is closed cell mat (which will prevent any bacteria growth and will last much longer than fabric like open cell mats) sweat does not get observed by mat. That is not bad for health reasons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good so far Feb. 19 2013
Color Name:Midnight|Verified Purchase
Overall I quite like this mat. I got it in the midnight color, which is a dark navy blue. It's just the right amount of cushy, not so much that I sink in! I feel inspired walking on to the mat with bare feet.

My only peeve with it is that when my hands get a bit sweaty, it feels slippery. Makes downward dog a bit challenging to hold gracefully. ;-) I've been using my mat for about a month, and from I read, it can take a few months for the factory "finish" to rub off. I have done the salt scrub recommended by Manduka, and it does seem to be less slippery than at first, but I'm hoping it gets better than this.

there is no odor to this mat, it's fairly light, feels durable, and has a nice texture to touch.

I simply love this mat. Excellent quality. Don't hesitate to buy it if you practice yoga regularly. Not too heavy.

I love the thickness and cushion of this mat, and it seems like wonderful quality. I do, however, notice a bit of slippage when in downward dog -- that could improve with time but, for now, it's the only drawback to an otherwise beautiful mat.

2.0 out of 5 stars Slip'n Slide Mat Jan. 29 2014

I had a pretty terrible experience with this mat. It is thick and sturdy and I have no doubt that it would last forever.
However, it is the most slippery mat I have ever practiced on. I washed it, used it frequently, gave it lots of time to break in (several months of at least daily practice) but as soon as my hands get even a little bit sweaty they slide out from under me. I usually need a towel even for room temperature practice with this mat.
After a few months I gave up, ordered a Jade mat and have never been happier. I keep the Manduka as a spare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Yoga Mat
As a newbie to yoga, I wanted a comfortable yoga mat. This certainly fits the bill as the mat has a great cushion that is firm but very forgiving. I found no issues with slippage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!
Good quality, and and worth any penny. Indeed, becomes slippery when you sweat a lot but that is when the towel comes handy.
