Product Description

Review

"...an excellent book on all aspects of tropical medicine.including traditional medicine, environmental disorders, psychiatry, and oral health, as well as infections. The system-based and disease-based approach is cross referenced well and is particularly effective in the online version of the book...It is very clinically oriented and should be a great resource for practitioners or students of this subject." - Doody's 3 stars ***

"This is an iconic book that has survived for over a century...Attractive, compact as it can be and more colourful than before. The malaria chapter of over 100 pages is a classic - on its own worth purchasing the book - no other tropical book can match this one." BMA Book Awards 2009 - judges comments

"The description of Manson's as a travel medicine text is fitting. For those wishing to have an encyclopedic but yet practical reference on disease in and out of the tropics, Manson's should prove to be a good purchase." Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease, March 2009

2.0 out of 5 stars Major flaws in the Kindle version April 10 2012
By Doc Steen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Excellent book, but important figures are missing in the Kindle version of the book. Further layout needs to be improved for Kindle.
For this reason I can not recomment purchase of the Kindle version of this book, only.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tropical Medicine Professor Sep 21 2012
By bena - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I am a professor of Tropical Medicine and this has been my text book for the last 4 years. Not only for this topic, but in general as a medical text book, Manson's is one of the best works around.
The amount of information in this book is extraordinary, and unlike many other books on this topic, it does not focus only on infectious diseases.
Highly recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars This book sparked my interest in tropical diseases. May 25 2011
By K KIZUR - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I love this book. The text provides both fascinating historical accounts on the research and practice of tropical diseases, and highly informative discussions on the epidemiology, transmission, pathology, diagnosis and management of a broad range of tropical disease states. Descriptions have an easy to read 'human' feel, that left me with the sensation of being in correspondence with a friendly, knowledgeable group of specialists in the field.
