Review
"'An exceptional writer - warm, modern, daring and oozing sweetness and beauty.' Julie Myerson"
Book Description
Patsy and Michael - along with their vole-obsessed friend Owl - are workers in the fetish industry, employed by clients to enact their most bizarre and buried desires. One day the pair arrange to meet a potential client in a City bar. Edward is a married financier who hires the duo to accompany him on his encounters with Baby Girl, a fifteen-year-old Hoxton party girl he's become obsessed with.
A wonderfully compelling insight into a strange, unusual and at times disturbing world, Manual is about what we fetishise and why, about love and our failure to connect, and about the unfulfilling nature of consumerism. It is a major new novel from one of the most uncompromising and surprising storytellers in the English language today.
