If there was an option for less than one star... Jan. 21 2011
By Rachel A. Evick - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Please, if you're a nursing school professor spare your students having to endure this poorly written book. It is vague, hard to understand, and the diagrams are so confusing! Additionally, typos abound. On one page the author is discussing checking the IV site for infiltration. The paragraph repeatedly suggests checking for "harness." Confused about what this was I asked a nurse friend of mine and she suggested the book might mean "hardness." Not really something you have time to do as a nursing student is edit a book that is supposed to be a reference so you presumably can provide safe patient care. I recommend any other text than this one!

I am very satisfied with this book. It has all of the information I need for the IV certification class I am taking. It also presents the information thoroughly and in a logical order.

Excellent book for beginner vascular access nurses Feb. 10 2011
By merlingirl - Published on Amazon.com

This book covers everything from evidence based practice to line placement, infusion, fluid and electrolytes, equipment, lab draws, complications, INS standards and infection control. Good book to study for INS or AVA certification.
Highly recommend this book for new employees of vascular access teams or infusion centers who do not have any vascular access or infusion experience.

Required book for my program.... Nov. 5 2013

Poorly written book. Not user friendly and very hard to study from. The CD is not helpful at all. Really wish this book was not required for my class.
Comprehensive but easy to read Feb. 12 2014
By Chris Bechard - Published on Amazon.com

A big fat book that is very comprehensive and up-to-date. Expensive like all school textbooks are. Required reading for our nursing school. A bit difficult to carry around in a book bag with all my other nursing books. Perhaps someday all higher education classes will be using digital versions of these books, which will be good for the environment and on students' backs!
