Marc Anthony comes on like a suave, less jumpy alternative to Ricky Martin on this mostly English-language album. Having already introduced itself to the pop mainstream with the salsa-tinged single "I Need to Know," Marc Anthony offers several other obvious crossover hits, ranging from the Rodney Jerkins-produced Latin-funk fusion of "She's Been Good to Me" to the lovelorn midtempo ballad "When I Dream at Night." However, Anthony's agreeably keening voice is too often applied to the sort of colorless adult-contemporary material typical of Michael Bolton and Mariah Carey mainstay Walter Afansieff, who produces or coproduces three tracks here. The result is often more interesting in sociological terms--Anthony fans who, like the star, were born to Latino parents in America are as sure to eat this disc up as his new Caucasian admirers--than in musical ones. I'd like to start by saying that Marc Anthony doesn't have an "alright" voice. He has one of the most beautiful voices in music. He has a big range and can hold a note forever. His tenor is awesome and the emotion and passion he puts in his music is unbelievable. "I Need To Know" isn't the only hit on this album. Every single song is beautiful. I've been listening to his salsa records for 7 years now and as years go by his talent grows. Every single song this man has sung is excellent and he's the man. He's a very sweet, humble person and I'm definitely a die hard fan. I'd also like to say that I wasn't at all shocked that this album was such a hit. I didn't expect any less from the "King of Salsa", and now pop. That's right, POP. Because this album is off the hook. Better than Ricky's and Enrique's put together. The lyrics to his music are touching and his voice is better than both of these men. I've been fortunate enough to attend 6 of Marc's concerts, including the msg performance recently on HBO, and as always he's put on excellent shows. His energy is unbelievable and is without a doubt the best performer I've ever seen. "Marc es un orgullo latino, y Puerto Rico lo adora".

Marc Anthony is simply PHENOMENAL!

i never really thought that marc anthony would sound really great until i saw his performance on tv. his song 'i need to know' doesn't really show much of his talent until i heard my baby you. he sang it with full emotion and power. he sounded really great. he cried during the performance, which also make me wanna cry. can't wait for his next album. never really been a real fan of him until now

Marc Anthony's voice is great, the rhythmn of the music is great, but whoever was responsible for collaborating the music with the voice did a very poor job. At times you have to be stretching your ears to hear Anthony's sexy, mellow voice. The musice tends to drown his voice, even his back-up singers are more audible than he is. It's as if he was on one continent with an ampliphier trying to reach the rest of his band on another continent. Did they listen to this cd before releasing it? I hope they re-do it with all the same pieces but with a better mixture of voice to instruments.
