BEWARE: THIS IS MILTON'S MARILYN...well almost!, Feb 23 2009
By Thomas W. Jacobs "tommyj" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Marilyn [With 2 CDs] (Hardcover)
I was a little bit leary of ordering this book but finally succumbed to my curiosity. I was correct in my hesitation; essentially, this IS Milton's Marilyn. However, the edel "classics" GmbH edition does not have the text of the original & only a fraction of the photogrpahs. Many of those pictures are not nearly as clean/crisp as in the original but most are perfectly adequate.
The bright spot is that there are two handsome CDs (with photos by Milton Greene on them of course...) of Marilyn's songs contained inside the front cover. All the usual songs are here including the erroneously credited to Marilyn "When I Fall in Love"
No surprises here, although the book as shown is not the book you receive, it actually has the same photo of Marilyn as Greene's book does; Marilyn in the white fur stole with white background...but if you do not own Milton's Marilyn or any version of Marilyn's voice in song; this is definitely an OK purchase for the price
