Martha learns that thieves are trying to steal Granny’s secret alphabet soup recipe, and it’s up to her to stop them!

Martha—a.k.a. agent K9-002—is on a secret mission to expose the criminals trying to steal Granny Flo’s soup formula. But the life of a secret agent dog turns out to be much more complicated than Martha imagines. She must enter a world of doggy surveillance, high-tech gadgets, and unlikely suspects to defeat the evil soup thieves and save the formula—and her speaking voice! Includes a glossary and a special secret agent activity section with a spy test, secret code, and instructions on how to become a master of disguise.

About the Author

Susan Meddaugh studied art and illustration and has worked as a designer, art director, and freelance illustrator. She now lives in Sherborn, Massachusetts with her son and three shelter dogs. She has created and illustrated many books for children. In 1998 she was awarded the New England Book Award, given by the New England Booksellers Association to recognize a body of work.   Martha was a real dog who lived with Susan and her family. One day, when Susan's son Niko (who was 7 at the time) was eating alphabet soup, he wondered what would happen if they fed the soup to Martha. Would she talk? This was the seed for the first Martha Speaks book. Since then five more pictures book about Martha have been published. A PBS television show debuted in September 2008 with much fanfare and many great reviews.   To see an interview with the author, go to the PBS website: pbskids.org/martha/index.html

1.0 out of 5 stars SUCKS! Looks like it got run over by a truck!!!!!! July 1 2013

Edges of book are mangled. And there is black marker on the top binder. That wasn't mentioned in the description. It is useless to contact Amazon, since all my latest dealings have been with people in the Philippines (literally - I've asked) and they divert you by telling you whatever they think you might want to hear to get rid of you. Not the Amazon it used to be. Nice book to give a six year old kid. What, you think they won't notice, so it's ok? You suck. This was definitely a rip off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cursive practice for Lefties Nov. 29 2012
By paraddy - Published on Amazon.com
My son is a Leftie and he does not like writing. but for some reason this book worked out. A good prcatice in cursive letter formation that considers/ accounts for Lefties needs.. would recommend.
