No Music Edits, and My Set Did Include Final Curtain Call,
By
This review is from: Mary Tyler Moore: Season 7 (DVD)
At long last, after 8 years, the classic "Mary Tyler Moore" show is FINALLY complete on DVD.While Fox has treated this landmark show as shabbily as Sony has the equally groundbreaking "All in the Family", I am pleased to be finally be able to have a 168-episode Mary-thon at home anytime I choose. I had a few concerns about this set before buying it, and I wanted to use this review to voice the fact that those concerns were unnecessary. First of all, the music is intact on the episode "Murray Can't Lose", and it includes both Mary's famous rendition of "One For My Baby" that she peforms in Mr. Grant's office as well as Georgette's spectacular "Steam Heat" number at the Teddy Awards banquet. I was relieved to find it because it is my favorite performance by Georgia Engel in the whole series. Also, "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" is complete on "The Last Show". Speaking of which, there have been comments elsewhere online that the final curtain call was missing. It was indeed intact on the set I purchased, so no worries there. (It plays at the very end of the episode instead of the usual instrumental closing theme and credits. It is not listed separately as there are no bonus features). Now we just need Fox to license out "Phyllis" to Shout! Factory and all will be right in the world :)

Last Call missing,
By Canuckfcuk (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mary Tyler Moore: Season 7 (DVD)
Season 7 is one of the funniest. Having said that, the DVD itself was a bit of a let down. It does not contain any bells and whistles and is very 'basic' (there isn't even a booklet with a brief synopsis of the episode with its air date). The biggest let down was the fact that unlike the above poster my DVD did NOT contain the last call as indicated on the packaging. The programme itself, however, is still top notch with some very funny scenes. x

This review is from: Mary Tyler Moore: Season 7 (DVD)
My DVD set didn't contain the final curtain call, so I phoned the number on back of the box. The person on the other end was very polite and apologized and mentioned a replacement disc would be sent out right away. All she asked was where I bought it (amazon.com) and if it was a pre-order and that's it. After I gave my name and address she said the disc would be shipped right away.Excellent customer service, but it's hard to believe it took all these years to complete the MTM series. Now they need to finish the remaining Bob Newhart Show seasons and release Phyllis on DVD. When Season 1 was released almost a decade ago, I was one who paid full price ($49.99) and paid full price also for the subsequent seasons. I'm just glad to get the entire series on DVD. It's about time. This is back when television was great. 22 of 24 people found the following review helpful

Finally Mary Is Complete,
By Bruce Aguilar - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Mary Tyler Moore: Season 7 (DVD)
It's taken eight years, but the entire Mary Tyler Moore Show is finally on DVD! Sadly, it had to come in the form of schizo releases from Fox, but at least we have it.Season 7 continues the bare bones presentation of the last few seasons. The three DVDs are in one regular sized DVD case with no insert, but at least the cover is printed on both sides this time and the case is clear so that an episode list can be printed on the left-hand side. No episode synopsis mind you, just an episode list, but it's more than Fox could be bothered with in the past. No bonus features are included. The shows themselves look great on DVD and season 7 ends the series on a very high note with a number of classic episodes beyond the obvious last episode. Unfortunately, even though the back of the DVD case proudly states the special Final Curtain Call ending is included on "The Last Show," it's nowhere to be found. Evil Fox strikes again. [BEGIN EDIT] Thankfully calling the toll free Fox number was painless and within a week I received a replacement Disc 3 that includes the advertised Final Curtain Call on "The Last Show." Kudos to Fox for quickly addressing the issue and correcting it. Hopefully this error won't occur in future pressings and Fox will continue to replace discs as necessary. [END EDIT] So this is The Mary Tyler Moore Show on DVD. All the warts and waiting caused by Fox still can't dim the effervescent joy of the show. This is timeless television that deserves to be seen for years to come. Hopefully someday, the show will get the prestige release it deserves for home video. Five stars for the show - three for the DVD presentation. 19 of 21 people found the following review helpful

Curtain Call missing - Fox will replace Disc 3 if you call,

My pre-ordered set of MTM Season 7 is also missing the Curtain Call from the final episode. Call the toll-free number on the back of the DVD case and speak to a Fox representative. They will ask you for certain information and they do have replacement discs for disc 3 which they will send to verified buyers. Have your purchase information handy when you call.
