Great RPG, Great Story, Great Characters. If you have, or even if you haven't, played the first installment (Mass Effect) then you have an idea of what you are getting into. If you haven't played the first installment, I'm told you will still get a summary of the main events from the first game, so you are not missing much. However, the story in the first game was epic, the characters were lively, and the gameplay was great. Now, it's pushed to the next level. If you played the first game, your choices carry over into this one. Someone you may have taken the time to help out during your adventures might make an appearance here. If you had some of your team mates die, they won't make an appearance here. It's a great way to move along the trilogy and see how it all connects. Finally, if you love RPGs, or just want a game for the story within it, then this is a great buy. With the collector's edition you get an extra armor and weapon in-game plus access to the Cerberus Network. Not to mention a great art book, metalic case, and some more.

Hey so I bought this game and it's pretty awesome. It's a little more linear than the first game, in relation to when (in ME1) you could land on some planets and just drive along the surface. In the second game you can land on considerably less planets, and when you get there, the path is guarded by rocks and debris, both sides, all the time. The dialogue tree and the 'paragon' - 'renegade', aspect is a lot better and its much harder to figure out exactly what the outcome of a conversation will be. Fighting style is very free flowing, and they incorporated some of the wall hugging from Gears of War, and the guns are pretty sweet. When playing this game, it is wise to choose only Paragon OR Renegade because later on you will not have the necessary good/evil points to have the extended options on the conversation tree. Overall great game, and I have beat it about 2.5 times right now. Each with a different class of hero (Vanguard, Sentinel, Adept [my personal favorite], Soldier, Infiltrator, Engineer).

The only issues that kept me from giving ME2 a five-star rating were a couple of map bugs where I found myself stuck and had to re-load my game, losing mission progress; and the fact that the dialog system still sticks you with certain default selections that you can trigger when trying to skip NPC dialog, which is irksome when you're on repeat play-throughs and you want to get quickly to the dialog wheel and end up giving a response that closes off subsequent dialog you wanted to try. To me, 5 stars is perfection, and while Mass Effect 2 is really, *really* good, I can't describe it as "perfection."
