4.0 out of 5 stars Nice album, nice cohesive atmosphere... Oct 31 2012
By Dutch
Format:Audio CD
This is one no nonsense album with a nice, gritty feel and a very dark atmosphere. Everything about this album is dark, violent and anything is negative. The production is very aggressive, with some of the stronger producers in the underground, especically when it comes to the hard hitting darkness. The beats are gritty with heavy bass and strong drums. La Coka Nostra performs well, flowing on beats that fits them well (especially Ill Bill); the lyrics are aggressive and the delivery is rough. Ill Bill and Slaine are great complements of each other, although Slaine can seem a bit out of place as the whole album is morbid sounding. With the absence of Everlast, Danny Boy steps up a little bit also. Nice album, nice cohesive atmosphere...bang.

5.0 out of 5 stars REal gutter!!! July 31 2012
By Tayron Forbes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
once again LCN delivers another street, gutter, raw, underground lyrics that they were able to deliver real street rhymes without being too poppy. It is sad to see everlast go for family reasons but i hate to say this but on this album they were better off without him which is no issue with me.anyway, every track on here is unskippable and very sick.i was not aware that danny boy could rap but he delivered some of the most grimy lyrics on one track and it no problem with me. Like i said, every track on here is unskippable and it blows my mind away. If you are looking for some relief from all of that pop rap non-sense that is out there, then you should go get this.you will not be dissapointed. One!

5.0 out of 5 stars GRITTY GREATNESS Dec 23 2012
By Steve Sanders - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Let me start by saying I am a huge House Of Pain fan as well as Non Phixion. So back when LCN came out with their Black Metal mixtape and their Brand You Can Trust album I was hooked.Bill and Slaine flow together like a hot slug from a gun both have very gritty, intelligent, power house lyrics that deal with everything from drug use, politics, crime, and just all the things whack ass pop/hop rappers out now a days like Drake,Wayne,e.t.c won't go near. Now when I heard Everlast wasn't going to be on this album I wasn't worried a bit granted he is a legend but his style just gets a little worn out and just doesn't go has hard as the other 2 and he was responsible for the weak spots on Brand You Can Trust.Bringing his What It's Like vibe to a place where it has no reason to be.So back to Masters Of The Dark Arts, this album is straight dope off the stove totally uncut.Bill and Slaine are at the top of their game,on tracks like creed of the greedier feat Danny Boy who murders it wish he would spit more often, electronic funeral(best track),snow beach, mossaid, and 38 revolver which features reocurring LCN member Big Left who is a monster and another one who should just spit with the group regularly. All tacks bang but those are the exceptional ones,it reminds me more of Heavy Metal Kings which was an absolute banger that was an Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz duet than BYCT because it's only Bill and Slaine spitting on every track minus the guest appearances. This album is better though,Slaine and Bill were just meant to rap together.I've heard people try to say Slaine try's to sound like Eminem, ignorance at it's finest.Slaine is from the hard streets of Boston and has a street rep to rival and rapper in the game and is way harder and more powerful then Eminem(who is a great rapper)could ever imagine.Slaine would kidnap him, hold him for ransom and sniff lines off his dead body.lol...So if you are a real rap fan,a fan of the hardcore and are fans of House Of Pain,Non Phixion,Wu-Tang,Mobb Deep,Onyx,JMT,then pick up this album and bump it non stop it also features amazing production from legendary DJ Lethal,Sicknature,Statik Slektah, and Ill Bill himself.Bang this loud everywhere.......
