This oven mitt features a heat-resistant silicone outershell that is water proof - even in boiling water. Use the non-staining, food safe mitt to take hot dishes from the oven, or to remove eggs, potatoes, and more from boiling water. The removable, super-soft cotton lining helps keep hand cool and comfortable. The mitt is flexible, making it easy to grip hot pot handles, or dishes. The mitt is cut for left or right-handed use and fits most adults.

first off let me say that i am a cook in the army. with that said, i work with industrial cooking items all day. secondly, let me say that i am in Afghanistan right now when i ordered it. it got here in record time, and i have to say, it works. plain and simple. its the best oven mitt ive ever used. one of my coworkers wasn't paying attention and put too much oil in a pan, and without thinking i grabbed the sheetpan while i had it on, and hot oil spilled all over my hand...i never felt a thing. bubbling popping grease and i honestly never even felt the mitt get warmer from the inside. wondering if i had ruined a new toy of mine i looked at it, and it stood up. no melting, no scars, nothing. the ribs on it allow me to grip huge sheetpans one-handed. with the insert easy to come out, cleaning is a breeze. i have no problems buying more..and i probably will for my home when i get back

I had been using cloth oven mitts till I found this silicone mitt. This mitt solved most of the problems I had with cloth mitt. Firstly, cloth mitt easily stained, and after several washes in the washer, the material became ineffective to withstand the heat. Cloth mitt also a good place for bacteria to grow when it gets damp.
However, with this silicone mitt, I can easily wash the exterior with soap, and the material will not change its form. The design also made grabbing baking trays or hot plates very effortlessly.
Overall, I like this product, easy to clean, fun to use and happy color to match my kitchen.

I bought this as a gift for a friend, and it was a hit. The cotton liner is an improvement over the original Orka Mitts which felt kinda creepy on your hand, and these new ones are quite flexible. I got her the purple version, which has a "jelly" look. My friend has raved about using it already, to reach into a pot of boiling water to pull out ears of corn. Can't do that with a cloth mitt!
