Even on a bad day, Python shines,
By
This review is from: Matching Tie and Handkerchief (Audio CD)
Matching Tie And Handkerchief is easily the weakest of the Monty Python studio LPs, though of course that still makes it pretty good. While some sketches fall flat (the "Great Actors" sketch, for instance, is well-researched but fails to include any actual jokes), and others drag on too long ("Cheeseshop"), there is some excellent silliness to make up for the odd dull patch. In particular, the "Novel Writing" sketch is a superb skit on sports commentary, the sheer exuberance of the performance makes "Bruces" a delight, and "Background To History" is built around some genuinely catchy songs from Neil Innes. It's hard to shake off the feeling that the double-groove on the original LP was the album's best gag, but despite that, and despite a few frankly rubbish sketches, this is still a must-have for the Python fan.

This is just great. I copied what Thomas Hardy writes for his novel, and the bruces club rules, and put it in the cd case. This is a great album. On the original album, two grooves were on one side, so it would randomly pick one side. It's fun to experiment with, and it's one of those album jokes, that just aren't the same on cd. One of my favorite's is the world war noises skit. Very funny. You can pick this up pretty cheap, so why not do it right now?

Once again, here is a example of entertainment that is way over the head of most people. And thank God for that - if this fell in the groove for most people, the world would probably up end and sink, and I mean that in a good way since I would not want to "offend" anyone of a certain "way" who might disagree with this statement (and I certainly don't want the world to "up end" and sink). You are the "way" you are, and that's it, so bless you and have a nice day.
