HASH(0x989a1ab0) out of 5 stars much better than buying in mega-corp hardware store March 26 2012

Wow. I'm really impressed with this range element receptacle.

Last year I had to replace the element receptacle on my Kenmore range, so I went to the local Home Depot and purchased a receptacle kit for about thirteen USD ($13). The kit I bought from Home Depot was twice the price of this amazon one, did not come with a screw, and worked well for a while before shorting out (read: a big, happy blue spark flew from the range at me after a year). A couple days ago, I decided to buy *this* Maytag Surface Element Receptacle Kit to replace it.

I only just installed this new receptacle, so I can't say if it will or will not last, but it sure as hell looks/feels like it'll last longer than the store-bought receptacle. And at half the price, I'm lovin' it.

* Sturdy construction. The element slides deep into the receptacle, and it grabs on tight.
* Comes with everything you need and more: simple & clear instructions, a new screw, 2 metal brackets (I guess to fit 2 different types of ranges; no problems with my Kenmore range), terminals to contact range element & wire, 2 wire nuts, the plastic receptacle itself, and (bonus!) 2 heat-shrink tubes.
* Super easy to install following instructions. No electrical tape necessary.

* The wire from the terminals wasn't very long, but it worked fine for me.

Will buy again if another receptacle fails me.

HASH(0x9891b9cc) out of 5 stars Unmitigated piece of trash Aug. 16 2012

This is the THIRD one of these we've had to buy for our lovely Whirlpool 'Super Capacity 465' stove. My wife could better describe its general deficiencies, but suffice it to say that the large heating elements break free from their 'base', and that this kit doesn't even include the correct screw to fasten the cheap, not as original, receptacle brackets that hold the receptacle to the stove top.

I'd be embarrassed to have my name associated with this piece of junk. The first time I called customer service as I was so totally amazed that this thing came from Whirlpool; I was assured that this service package had been designed by their "research engineers". (I need a rolling-eye emoticon)

HASH(0x98f582e8) out of 5 stars Cook Element Receptacle kit 330031 Jan. 27 2012

It easily exceeded my expectation and it is a well-built kit made in U.S.A.. It has been installed in my 2600w element bay and so far it performed extremely well and no burning smell on plastic housing. Those same stuff you buy at either Lowe's or Home Depot are made in China with cheap metal dual-pod and it burns and won't last three months. You should never buy them. Buy this one may make you very happy. I had it installed in my KitchAid brand cook range and it works well. I'll give this review an update a few months from now to report its long-term performance.

It fits and now all 4 burners work!! Check and/or replace the clip that keeps the burner from wobbling around. That's what usually causes the receptacles to burn out.

Works with a lot of different stove top burner elements. You'll have to do some wiring yourself since it's not plug-n-play. But it includes wire nuts and heat shrink to help you out. It only took me 5 minutes to attach this to my stove. Works like it should.
