1.0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed to S L O W your system to a crawl and cheat you out of your rebate! Jan 2 2006

Guaranteed to S L O W your system to a crawl and cheat you too!

Problem #1: This software is guaranteed to slow your system down to a crawl. I currently have their Internet Security Suite running on two PCs and both have lost about 40% of their speed because of McAfee software.

Problem #2: The Spamware program that comes bundled with this suite is useless. It does not block anything. The 2005 version at least was successful most of the time. The 2006 version is useless. I cannot find any options to configure my Spamware. McAfee Spamware even ignores your "spam filters". It doesn't do anything!

Problem #3: Be aware that McAfee will NOT honor your rebate request. It is their philosophy to reject as many rebate requests as possible. You can read other users experiences on amazon.com on the miserable track record they have on honoring customer rebate requests. My rebate request was also rejected. I contacted my local TV consumer help line to investigate McAfee's unethical practices.

Your best bet is to go to Consumer Reports and get an unbiased opinion. You will find McAfee Internet Security is among the bottom of the list.

All these people that left negative reviews on McAfee Software can't be wrong. This software suite is rated 1 stars out of 5 stars! McAfee's other products are rated even lower.

2.0 out of 5 stars YEAH! PROTECTION WITH PERFORMANCE AS YOUR TRADE-OFF Oct 31 2005
By VAL ODUENYI - Published on Amazon.com
The traditional red packet of "McAfee Internet Security Suite" has been replaced by a shiny and nicely designed black one. This seems to be the most remarkable alterance that buyers will get after forking-out their hard-earned dough! Only very little has changed: in terms of the actual software. And, I am far from being amused.

For anyone who currently runs the 2005 (or even the 2004) edition of any Internet Security suite, (be it McAfee or Norton), better save your wad. You need not pay for this one. The notorious problems of both McAfee's Antivirus and Internet Security hogging down your computer's performance resources has not been fixed. And, the same is true for a lot of other incompatibility problems that were evident in the 2005 edition.

Meanwhile (on the positive side), an improved 'digital document-shredder', which is marginally better than what featured in the 2005 edition of this software has been added. Still, buyers need not applaud it, because it essentially does the same job that the 'Recycle Bin', which comes integrated with Microsoft Windows, does. Also included in this software is one annoying pop-up, which constantly shows-up to remind you to register the software. And to make matters worse, McAfee deliberately designed it in such a way that you cannot turn it off. So, it means that if you must stop it from disturbing you, you must either register the software or you uninstall it completely.

In conclusion, I must say that I was really disappointed by this 2006 edition of "McAfee Internet Security Suite". Although, I must add that in terms of good protection, it gets a pass mark. But the fact that it significantly drains computers' performance-enhancing resources in order to provide this security-cover, makes it a painful pyrrhic victory for users.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this program suite Jun 11 2006
By Robert W. McEwan - Published on Amazon.com
Terrible, Terrible Terrible. It has a few components phishing, firewall. virus, security, anti-spam. When I installed it, it went for updates (one at a time) and required a reboot for each. It then it complained I still wasn't secure get the anti-phishing. I downloaded it and it and guess what it required an update. About 10% the time it crashes on update.

The anti-phishing filter stopped my PC from connecting to the enternet. Smart move by McAfee no internet connection no phishing. Microsoft crash report sent me to their website which said hey you cann't connect due to the anti-phising filter delete a .dat file. I did and it still didn't connect.

Twenty reboots,no connectivity and 1 bad patch later I unistalled.
