Format: Hardcover
Lynn Coady's satire of a small town university and its even smaller poetry society is a entertaining read. Coady has done her homework and exposed many of the hidden stories and myths of Mount Allison University and one of its former, famous poet/professors, John Thompson.
Mt. A. grads will love the references to Hart Hall and Mel's (not so carefully disguised) etc. and English majors everywhere will cringe with self-recognition at the scenes where Larry tries to explain why poetry is so important to him.
Mean Boy deserves to be read.

Format: Paperback
This novel is one of my favs now. It has moments where I couldn't help but laugh out loud and there were moments where I was so immersed in the book that Id sit down and read for hours, wondering what was going to happen next. The characters are great contemporary style is a breeze to absorb its content. Lynn Coady has an inspiring finesse in her work and makes for a delightful read. This book is sure to have an impact on how you view your childhood heroes as Lawrence, the protagonist, realizes his long time idol is all too human and at times, a mopey narcissistic jerk.

Format: Paperback
A very intelligent, evocative story of a small-town character experiencing the emotional tumult of the expanding horizons of leaving home for university. Extremely well written, poignant and occasionally funny, this is an excellent read and well-deserving of the time spent.

This book is filled with hilarious Maritimers - you'll recognize them! There are hilarious and heartbreaking moments as one young man's idolatry betrays him inch by inch.
