Product Description

Product Description

Michelle McManus is the UK's Pop Idol. Whittled down from thousands of wannabes, she survived the tantrums, the tears, the laughter & the joy to defy the bookies & take the crown. Her debut single 'All This Time' (which she performed with breathtaking brilliance on the final show) rocketed straight into number one & has built up nail-biting expectation for her album. 'The Meaning Of Love' is a mix of stunning musical gems that covers the whole pop spectrum & beyond. The ace single you'll already know but it's joined here by equally compelling songs including the storming - 'When The World Is Not Enough', 'How Can Sorry Ever Mend A Broken Heart' & 'Cast The First Stone'. Michelle's album is an accomplished debut that will begin her career on the highest of notes. Stunningly produced & containing fourteen potential No.1 singles, 'The Meaning Of Love' is an outstanding achievement from an outstanding new artist. BMG. 2004.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional CD--Still listening months later Mar 28 2004
Format:Audio CD
As a huge fan of American Idol, I was fascinated to see that the winner of Pop Idol won by such a huge margin. I ordered Michelle's CD the day it was released so that I could see if she really deserved to win by so much. I am very impressed with the CD. I would rate it far above any CD released by an American Idol contestant--although Kimberley Locke's CD hasn't come out yet. This CD showcases her voice, but doesn't seem to be tailored to it. With Kelly Clarkson, I felt that some songs were chosen to be pop hits and others were chosen to fit her voice, but the songs chosen to suit her voice were not good songs. Michelle's songs are GOOD songs that showcase her voice. I would buy everything else that she releases, and I fully expect that she will win the next World Idol (should there be a second one).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great New Artist! Aug 6 2004
By Music Lover - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I took a chance on this new artist based on her winning the UK Pop Idol show. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that she is really a great new artist with a lot of potential. She has a really good voice, kind of like Kelly Clarkson. The songs are very good, especially two stand-out ballads "Once in a Lifetime" and "How Can Sorry Ever Mend a Broken Heart." I'm looking forward to hearing more from her in the future!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Mar 23 2005
By Robert Blue - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Michelle McManus is the reason why we need competitions like Pop Idol in the world. A girl like her would probably never be signed by a major recording label because of her appearance (personally, I think she's actually quite pretty). But she has one of the most pure, unaffected voices in the music industry today and with the help of her label released what, to me, was unquestionably the best Pop album of 2004, one of the best overall albums of 2004, and one of the greatest Pop albums of the past 5 years. Here's hoping that Michelle can overcome the stigma of Pop Idol competitions and go on to have a long and successful recording career.
