From Booklist
Under the tutelage of Australian painter Johnston, the Middle Ages becomes the subject of home accessories. The focus is 19 medieval scenes, from simple illuminated flowers and letters to a complex portrait of Marco Polo's journey. Each project is graded for level of difficulty; color photographs showcase the final results (though one or a series of close-up pictures would be welcomed). Johnston, however, devotes most of her space to writing very detailed instructions for every project, from the initial sanding and surface coloring to the final application of an interior "surprise" decoration, varnish, or wax.
