This is a good cheap single i must say. Both are great songs by incubus but the reason i rate it 4 is becuase it is edited. I have heard megalomaniac on the radio so many times. I bought this hoping to hear the whole real version of the song.
1.Megalomaniac 9/10
2. Monuments And Melodies 10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! May 5 2004

Format:Audio CD
Megalomaniac is an awesome single by itself, very deep and at the same time very incubus-ish. People who've known incubus for a while, and know more about them than "Morning View" will be happy to hear some of the old stuff (like s.c.i.e.n.c.e), only new!:-) And the (only released on this CD-) "Monuments and Melodies" is even better. It's a very slow song, but nontheless great. Brandon Boyd on the guitar!
It's a great CD for someone who doesn't know all facettes to incubus yet. Go get it :-)

We've surely all heard how great Megalomaniac is so I'll base this review off of the b-side, Monuments And Melodies.

Monuments And Melodies is definitely a ballad that I didn't see coming. Brandon's voice/lyrics really is what's put on display here and he comes through better than expected. I'll admit that at first I wasn't to keen on it, but (surprise!) with further listens I started to like it more and more. Next to I Miss You, this song will probably go down as Incubus' most effective love song/ballad. With emotion to spare and excellent vocals, don't pass this up if you're an Incubus fan.

This is Incubus's 2003/2004 single release. I should listen to the radio edit of A Crow Left of the Murder lead single, which, if you ask me, is more appropriate than the album version (the album is unedited, I must warn you first-time listeners). But there's something about "Megalomaniac" that bothers me, other than the title itself; half the people who have heard it assume it was an attack on the president at its time (who WAS that president?), when, really, Brandon Boyd claimed it was talking about people's negative attitudes, from what I have read. That, plus the B-side, "Monuments and Melodies", sort of made me wonder why I even downloaded this single. Still, this deserves some credit, even if the unedited version is on one of their more "grown-up" albums that parents won't let their kids listen to. Oh, well. 3/5.
3.0 out of 5 stars Many versions of this cd, choose the 4 track + video version June 1 2010

There are 2 track cds, 2 cd sets and combined cds out there of this track, however all contain the common songs being

Megalomaniac (radio edit)
Monuments and melodies
Pistola (live)
Nowhere Fast (live)

some may also have the megalomaniac video which is great and cd 2 of the UK set may have the non radio edit.

As far as the songs go, being a radio edit really takes away from the impact of the song. Monuments and melodies is a nice song, a bit too sugary sweet but nice music and singing nonetheless.

The 2 live songs even though they were recorded at the same venue and show sound very different. Pistola has high quality written all over it and the song is pretty darn good too. Nowhere fast sounds very mufflled compared to pistola and would rate higher if not for the production.

Overall ok but nothing awesome.
