The book is visually gorgeous and is easy to use. Meghan lays out everything for you in steps that are as detailed as you need/want. It teaches you in reasonable ways about design and remodeling. When you buy a self-help book you want it to be of value to you for a long time and this book is common sense, handy-man (woman) useful, and will support anyone in any type of dwelling, whether it is house, apartment, condo, houseboat- where-ever you live- in making choices to create a place of comfort, usefulness and positivity. You can dwell in a structure or you can LIVE in your home- Meghan guides you to make it really LIVING. Once you've got the Meghan Method in your hands you become your own designer- confident and in control of what you want your home to grow into, whether for now or in the future.

Addition to review July 10, 2011 - This weekend just caught Meghan at presentation at Pottery Barn in Kenwood, Cincinnati,where she talked about using accessories---but the questions(almost 3 hours) ranged from use of light, color, textures and everything we could think of. She is charming, articulate, and boy does she know everything! Her comment, "some remember a home of fresh baked cookies from their childhood, I remember the smell of lumber from mine" rang true- she knows details like how a paint brush puts on paint(it is important now that I understand) to why wall paint color appears different in different corners of walls. Her book was impressive.....but Meghan is even more. You've got to see her in action and then you will understand. She connects- and the audience knows she is genuine in her expertise and what she is trying to do to help people live in their own style. Lucky us in Cinci to have her come through!

I have never seen a decorating book like this one, and i have bought many. This is the first one the really breaks it down for you. Megan doesn't just show lots of rooms done in her taste. The book makes alot of sense if you take the time to read and not just look for the easy way out. I do wish for more photos, perhaps progression pictures of a room being decorated step-by-step since i'm a visual learner. Otherwise, its worth the read.

I purchased this book to help my wife and I bring our decorating ideas to life. Just as Meghan stated in her book, most people shop to buy items they think they like only to find once the room is put together it does not come together as they had imagined so they shop some more. We are those people! We have bought items only to get them in place and say, this is not the direction we wanted to go in. We can definitely relate to the mistakes Meghan predicts most people make when trying to make their house a home. This book has been and will continue to be very helpful as we work our way from one room to the next. Also, really enjoyed the tips on creating a space that will be enjoyed by all who live in the house, not just the person doing the decorating. The book has made us both sit back and think about what we want and need out of the space, rather than painting the walls and throwing up some decorations only to be disappointed.
