A work of art, Jun 9 2010

The Latin pronunciation is, at times, different from what I am accustomed to hearing. In Ad Faciem, there is a woman singing what I thought was meant to be a tenor solo--but these things are generally somewhat flexible in music performance.
The music itself is crisp, clear, precise, and--above all--beautiful.

This review is from: Membra Jesu Nostri (Audio CD)
If i could give this CD 5X5 stars, i would give it wholeheartedly. Oh yes.
One can not and should not seperate between the score and the performance,
since there is not Buxtehude alone and there is not Cantus Colln alone -
there is Buxtehude by the Cantus Colln.
And, God, What a beautifull music this combination is producing here!
Every thing here is above the top class level:
the great 7 short cantatas under the name Membra Jesu Nostri (latin for: The limbs of our Jesus), that easily surpasses almost all of Bach's cantatas;
the superb performance of the superb Cantus Colln (listen for example to the third cantata for one of the the most exciting and delicate things you'll ever hear);
and third, the excellent recording.
BRAVO!
