1.0 out of 5 stars Complete Waste of Money May 24 2010
By Celeste V. - Published on Amazon.com
My husband bought this from Walmart a couple of weeks ago for our daughter to listen to at night when she is going to sleep. Already the CD player has quit working. Regardless of what disc is put in the player won't read it. So now we have a child who is at this moment upset that she can't fall asleep without her music and we have thrown away our money on this worthless product. I hope others read this warning and don't make the same mistake we did.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE ... BUT BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE MODEL # Oct. 13 2011

Not a Sony, but I like it. I live 60 miles from St. Louis but can still pull all my fav AM and FM stations. Sound is clear for both radio and CD player. Like speed dial with digital rotary tuner. No presets, but a zip to switch stations. Digital tuner allows for pin point tuning in my rural locale. Has bass boom, which I use occasionally. No problems. Worked well out of the box. Got at Walmart.

Liked it so much I wanted another, so bought one again from Walmart. BUT WAIT! Same brand: Memorex. Same model #: MP 3851 BLK. Got it home and it was an evil look alike. Cheaper plastic case, poor audio performance. Had trouble written all over it. So what's going on?

I looked on the bottom and it was a different sub-model. My Memorex boombox is a MP 3851 BLK "D". The new one was a MP 3851 BLK "J". "J" for junk. Back it went and I bought a $50 Sony.

So, I am rating my MP 3851 BLK "D" as *****. But as for any other member of the alphabet of sub-models ... WATCH OUT! And shame on Memorex for the double switch. Naughty, naughty.

1.0 out of 5 stars major flaw March 21 2010

Bought it at Walmart. The AC cord (that plugs into the wall outlet) keeps falling out of the boombox !! Not useable. Will return it today.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Boombox Feb. 19 2010
By Gary L. Jones - Published on Amazon.com
Bought this item at Wal-Mart, cd player quit working after about a week. The auxiliary jack to connect your MP3 player is a good ideal, but the sound is weak, and radio doesn't pick up well. I will return it and get something different. Not recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Audio Quality & Volume April 26 2010
By Pete - Published on Amazon.com
Purchased from Wal-mart, looking for cheep Portable Line-In Boombox. Although I did not expect much sound quality at this price, the Bass boost caused vibrations and speaker buzz even at medium volume, at low volume you couldn't hear it anyway. Design looks cool, and button placement is good, but it doesn't perform much better than un-amplified speakers.
