Book Description

June 2001
The golden rules of child rearing are explored in this poignant, touching, and honest true to life story. Upon the birth of the first of his four sons the author reexamines his life and through the retelling illustrates the true path, although not the easiest one to take, which assures a parent's victory as "my little fellow's dad". On a chapter-to-chapter basis we see the author deal with subjects such as: protecting the children, the necessity of baby sitters, the need to deal with lying head on, discipline and so forth. With each issue we are given an intimate understanding of why he feels strongly about these issues and of how they've played a part in his and his children's youths.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great guide! Feb. 5 2002
By MBScott
I can't say enough good things about this book! Even just looking back through my 2 year-old's life, this has made me look for the consequence of each action I take with him, and to make sure they are positive. The sensitive and honest re-telling of so many anecdotes from this parent-child relationship sometimes took me down memory lane and sometimes to the future, but always made me think about the kind of relationship I'd like to have with my son. Thanks, Mr. Snyder!

4.0 out of 5 stars Share the Memories! Jan. 3 2002
By A Customer
For parents and non-parents alike, Memories, Lessons & Advice: A Guide to Parenting Issues is a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Author Ron Snyder celebrates fatherhood by offering an honest, down-to-earth account of his child rearing experience as well as memories from his own childhood. Although it is called a "guide," it is presented as a narrative with each chapter tackling a real life parenting challenge.
Snyder's anecdotes are told with a wisdom and level headedness most often found at the knee of a grandparent. Written with honesty, sensitivity, and warmth, Memories, Lessons & Advice is both touching and informative.
