Product Description

Additional Features

The hands-down highlight of MIIB's bonus features is "The Chubb Chubbs," a delightful computer-animated cartoon (briefly shown in theaters with MIIB) that has the awkward distinction of being funnier and more inventive than MIIB. The other features offer an extensive dossier of production details, paying worthy tribute to the ingenuity of MIIB's creative team. Fifteen featurettes cover virtually every stage of production, from conceptual designs (in the DVD-ROM section, along with the complete screenplay) to Danny Elfman's dynamic score. Director Barry Sonnenfeld's "how we did it" commentary is as lazily redundant as his film, and his onscreen scribblings (or "Telestrator Diagrams," like those used during televised football games) serve no valuable purpose. In contrast, multiangle scene deconstructions fascinatingly demonstrate the many elements that make up a completed special-effects sequence. The blooper reel is what you'd expect (one viewing is enough), and additional behind-the-scenes material can be accessed through the "Alien Broadcast" feature, a film-in-progress variation of New Line's Infinifilm DVD format. The alternate ending is arguably better than the one actually used, and Will Smith's ultra-lavish music video "Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head)" is just like the movie: big, loud, and pure Hollywood. Is that a good thing? You decide. -Jeff Shannon

--Helen Faradji

2.0 out of 5 stars Keep It Real!, Jan 9 2003

This review is from: Men in Black II (DVD)
I think that it was ok. The first movie was very exiting, and different. When this movie starts Will SMith is doing what he always did. He is obsessed with flashing everyone, and making up new things for them. SO truely he didnt grow up.He has been through a BUNCH of partners. He goes to find Tommy Lee Jones who working at the Post OFfice, but all the clips they show in the previews that is all we see in the movie too!

He gets Jones back, with in minutes. It was like oh.. ok.. i will work for MIB. It was veyr strange in the first EVERYTHING was elaborate, and they made sure that you had to think. This movie just kept going like ok they will get it later, or not. Then they got "flushed?" and then ended up looking on EBAY for another machine to get Jones memory back.

The lady in this movie (what is her name)??Boyle?? well she had no point at all.. she just roamed around in this leather outfit and looking cute. WHAT What the LIGHT what did it do??? They never explained that BUT she NEEDED IT?

Well I think that it was a good movie, everything picked up where it left off. I mean the sets looked the same, and such. But i think that they didnt have the same chemisty that they did in the first movie. *smith * jones * they just were doing their job.

I did enjoy this movie, but i think that they could have done a must better job with the plot, and such. But it was nice to watch and get out of the hot summer sun!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sparkle is off, but still fun, Jan 6 2003

Okay, some of the sparkle is off, because we know what to expect, but it is still very entertaining, with a lot of really funny jokes. Lara Flynn Boyle is an alien (ala Critters sees a magazine pictures and assumes that form) coming to earth in search of the Light of Zartha. She is not as menacing at Vincent D'Onfrio, so that lacks, which means the film rests solely on the the shoulders of superb Tommy Lee Jones and great talent of Will Smith. All the old character from the original are back, like the marvellous Rip Torn as Zed. This is not long originality, but if you loved the first one you will enjoy this one. If you did not, then don't bother. Simple as that.
It is fast pace, with lots of in-jokes from the first film, a funny running joke of Michael Jackson wanting to be a MIB, Frank the Dog Alien hanging out of the car singing I Will Survive, and Jones and Smith's fussing over who will get to drive the car,
The Duo DVD is loaded with goods, the extra features on par with the set of the original, including a cartoon shown with the movie in theatres.
