Going through these beautiful pages of pictures and comfort food recipes... I was brought to a childhood place that still lives within us all. What a great walk through our past, present and now thanks to these beautiful ladies, our future! The fact that the proceeds of their success continues to help those in need around the world inspires me and every time I cook one of these recipes, I think of the gifts these ladies have blessed upon others, including their friends and families. :) Kudos Mennonite Girls! Another great addition to your successful legacy! I look forward to the next book! ;)

After seeing this Mennonite Girls Can Cook: Celebrations at a friend's house, I rushed right home and ordered two copies; one for myself and the other for my daughter. The book is organized well, has gorgeous illustrations (colour photos) of the food and, what impressed me most, the food is not artificially styled but photographed by the cooks themselves, so what you see is what you can expect to get when you try the recipe in your own kitchen. I can hardly wait for my copy to come in the mail! The price is also a great selling point; it is very reasonable. My advice? Buy this book for every shower, birthday, etc. you have coming up!

This cookbook was certainly not what I expected when I agreed to review it. I expected the normal type book, with the recipes organized in sections and straight forward instructions. Boy, was I wrong!!
This book is full of stories , as well as mouth watering recipes, beginning with birth and ending with life! The recipes are divided into sections under life celebrations, such as birth, childhood, marriage , and so on. Each begins with a section describing that specific part of life, in poetic form, or essay. Very thoughtful insight into the stages of life are well described. Then come a section of recipes to use on that particular occasion.

I was somewhat disappointed in the recipes. To be honest, I expected old fashioned Mennonite recipes. There were none to be seen!! This book was packed full of fashionable recipes that the in crowd would adore!! Me,..... not as much. Don't get me wrong, the recipes are fantastic, just not those that have been around for generations.

This book would be perfect for those planning one of these life events!! Your company would rave for weeks about the meal served! I did really enjoy the descriptions of life changes. They were thoughtful and made me really think about how they DO affect us as a person.

The Mennonite Girls share recipes to honor all of life. Join the girls for brunch celebrating a child's birth, campfire cooking with family, and even the more somber celebrations of a life well-lived. Filled from cover to cover with devotional reflections, personal stories, and beautiful photos, this book contains much more than recipes—it will soon become your kitchen companion for life's celebrations.

I love my Mennonite Girls Can Cook Celebrations cookbook! Once again it has recipes from our Mennonite heritage like the book before it, but also many more very creative ideas for how to be prepared for those Sunday surprise guests, camping over a fire, and great baby shower appetizers. What I loved about this book was how many of the recipes were quick and simple for a busy mom like myself. I also love that the photos of the food are not professional, but from the cooks themselves. Makes it feel like I could actually make them!

I was so excited to get the 2nd Mennonite Girls Can Cook cookbook "Celebrations". Along with easy to follow recipes are wonderful personal stories that everyone can relate to of the struggles and triumphs we all face in life. Great ideas to help celebrate the important dates in a family's life. Beautiful pictures capturing these moments showing what truly is important. The book draws the reader in to not only join by trying the recipes and ideas but also to be a part of a much larger picture in this world. To join together in helping those in need across the globe as the proceeds of this book will provide clean water in Africa. Way to go Mennonite Girls - you've done it again!

I could hardly wait for Mennonite Girls Can Cook Celebrations book to come out! Based on the first book, Mennonite Girls Can Cook, I knew that the "second course" would be as wonderful as the first!
Celebrations, with it's beautiful photography, mouth watering recipes, and inspiring stories and poetry from each of the contributors is such a treasure. It's like a breath of fresh air! I love the tutorial method of "how to" put the recipes together and suggestions on what food to serve at special family celebrations. I admire the fact that all royalties will be given to a charity that provides clean water to the needy in Africa.
I look forward to trying many of the recipes and using this book as a resource for inspiration when planning those special occasions in my own life.
The lessons on hospitality, faith, love of family and sisterhood have drawn me in to the lives of these amazing women who can indeed cook! Congratulations to all on another beautiful book.
