'This will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.' Closer

Product Description

It's hard to sit still when your client is scheduled to die in 15 hours!. As he makes an 11th hour plea for mercy, lawyer Alex Sedaka is resigned to the fact that Clayton Burrows will be executed. Charged with the rape and murder of 18-year-old classmate Dorothy Olsen - a girl he mercilessly bullied and victimised at school - the case seems cut and dry. But then the victim's mother makes an astonishing offer - clemency in return for the whereabouts of her daughter's body before she herself dies of the terminal disease ravaging her body. On the other side of the Atlantic, a nurse watching Fox News recognises Dorothy's name. Does she hold the key to this case? Alex must now convince Clayton to come clean - but he still protests his innocence. Is this another one of Clayton's games to or is he an innocent man about to be condemned to death?

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book!, Nov 21 2011
This review is from: Mercy (Paperback)
The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that it left me very tired since I couldn't put it down in order to get some sleep. I was on the edge of my seat. There were a few surprises, and although I had hunches as to the plots twists, I still found myself wanting to learn more and find out what happens next. I would 100% recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thriller worthy of Hollywood, Aug 2 2011
By felicie rosenberg - Published on Amazon.com
The book starts with a lawyer being offered clemency for his death row client. But the client turns him down flat. And that's only the beginning. What follows is over 500 pages of thrills and surprises and yet more surprises as the author extracts every last drop of excitement from this premise. Better than Klavan's True Crime, the only mystery to me is why this book hasn't been snapped up by Hollywood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping - from beginning to the end, Aug 1 2011
By bekay - Published on Amazon.com
I am not a young man and so I tend to read slowly. But in this case I found it rather hard because the book cries out to be read fast. The reader is swept along by the story, by the author's enthusiasm and by the main character's determination as he fights tooth-and-nail to save his client from the clutches of a harsh and imperfect legal system.

Although the author resists the temptation to succumb to sentimentality, this is a gut-wrenching story, as it deals not only with guilt and innocence, but also with the various DEGREES of guilt and innocence.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's hard to sit still when you're client is scheduled to die in 15 hours, Nov 28 2011

I couldn't think of a better title for this review than the opening line of the book. From the get go, this book grabs you and holds you immersed in its twists and turns until the absolutely explosive ending. And the twists keep coming right up until the very haunting last line. (I won't spoil it for you, but even after the big twist, when you think it's all over there is more to come.) But what really makes it clever is the way the surprises all neatly dovetail into one another. After they occur, you realize that it could not have been otherwise.

I won't try to summarize the book - it's 500 pages of brilliant legal thriller - but the way it comes down to the wire makes it as exciting as TRUE CRIME - with the added quality of being a lot cleverer. A first class thriller - from start to finish!!!!
