The lighting and costumes were wanting, somewhat annoying actually, and special effects were to laugh at, but the believable acting breathes life into the stories which are fairly well written with the myths or folklore being well represented. The directing is comfortable enough with only a few forgiveable lapses here and there. The sets were excellent throughout; I especially liked the true outdoor settings. It has its definite weaknesses, but the story-line, along with Merlin and Arthur's delightful rapport and Morgana's compelling dynamism, kept me wanting more. Guinevere's role was portrayed with touching sweetness, but her engagingly clumsy charm of the first season was lost by the second season and her role as a strong, positive influence is under-represented.
