Book Description

Nov. 29 2011
The war between Good and Evil has raged since before Time began. Now the battle continues with the Ultimate Good versus the Ultimate Evil. Metahumans vs the Undead. Metahuman: one of the human species endowed with one or more powers beyond that of mortal men; a person who uses those abilities to serve either themselves or society. Typically branded by a codename and colorful costume. AKA Superhero. Undead: one of the human species endowed with life even after death; a walking corpse. Typically branded by their decayed form and appetite for human flesh. AKA Zombie. In a world where superheroes and zombies collide, only one can prove the victor. Featuring indie heroic favorites like Axiom-man, The Wraith and Shadowflame, while also introducing newcomers like Nightcat, Spectrolite, Midnight Angel and more, Metahumans vs the Undead is a terror-filled action adventure where Light and Darkness collide and only one can prevail. Contains stories by: Rebecca Besser, Eric S. Brown, Frank Dirscherl, Lorne Dixon, A.P. Fuchs, Anthony Giangregorio, Keith Gouveia, J.L. MacDonald, Joe Martino, Rhiannon Paille, Gina Ranalli and J.B. 5.0 out of 5 stars Superhero Stories Feb. 5 2012

This compilement of Superheros vs Evil offers top entertainment for Superhero lovers! Frank Dirscherl and others are at their best with their contributed stories. I will now pursue other stories written by these authors, such as those involving Mr. Dirscherl's The Wraith. This type of reading enjoyment knows no end!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Set of Stories Aug. 19 2013

I love anthologies. Especially ones that have . . . for lack of a better word . . . a gimmick. One of my favorite genres is the zombie movie. Today, it seems that everybody is making a zombie movie. With all of the stories out there, how could we find something that is original? Why, have them face a list of up and coming indie superheroes!

Metahumans vs the Undead: A Superhero vs Zombie Anthology takes that premise and runs with it. The stories are all very enjoyable. Add to the mix some very creative origins for the zombie outbreak, and you have a winner. The heroes are very fleshed-out for the limited space of a story, although some of these heroes, like Frank Dirscherl's Wraith and J.L. MacDonald's Nightcat, exist in other novels and comics. I must say that even "the Puppet Master," starring an obvious knock-off of Batman, was enjoyable (mostly because I love superhero stories about heroes who don't necessarily have super powers). Many of the stories have some swearing in them, although not anything that you wouldn't hear in an X-Men movie. Also, the Axiom-man story, "There's Something Rotten Up North," can be found apart from this anthology (indeed, I'd already read it). But the book succeeds in doing the two things that it sets out to do: It entertains and it introduces us to a new roster of indie heroes.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Undead Won't Know What Hit Them Aug. 29 2012

It's always a joy to discover new superheroes and read about their exploits. These writers/creators have done an excellent job at bringing their characters to life. This collection should please any comic book aficionado (or reader looking for some fast, well-written, page-turning thrills and chills). Brace yourself as a variety of super-types (both new and familiar) battle an overwhelming darkness.
