1982 sophomore album from the Canadian Speed Metal pioneers. Metal On Metal is often considered the missing link between the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal of the late '70s and the West Coast Thrash Metal of the early to mid '80s. Since Anvil were from Toronto, a city not known for a booming Metal scene, Anvil unfortunately got lost in the shuffle while the bands they inspired achieved far more success. Still, Metal On Metal delivers a powerful punch decades after it's original release. 10 tracks. Unidisc.
Missed this album the first time back in 1982, but glad I found it. A solid effort. I was inspired by their movie "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" which was a great movie in it's own right. Now it's time for me to check out the rest of their library. Heavy Metal fans will not be disappointed.
Metal on Metal! What can you say about such a powerful album? The one album that influenced bands like Metallica, Anthrax & slayer to name a only a few. Just the title track itself is an anthem to Heavy Metal that just makes you wanna headbang every time you hear it. Truly Anvil at its best! They were so much ahead of their time & this album is proof of it. Metal on Metal was the blueprint Speed & Thrash Metal & one listen to it is all that is needed to understand why it stood the test of time. A gen Metal purist!
