Looking forward to it..,

For the "Metallica peaked with MoP" crowd- you know, not every fan who was there from the beginning hates the newer stuff.. hell, I like everything up to St. Anger and I might like that if it wasn't so horribly produced. As for the collection, it looks good- I wish they'd been more complete about it though. Some of their "live" videos (i.e. Fade to Black from Binge&Purge concerts) had a lot more tv play than the "official" vids. And I see the full version of Turn The Page isn't here (unless it's an Easter Egg:-), but I guess that would have made the dvd X-rated. I'd still buy it, to get "2 of One" and the remastered videos in a nice package.

This collection of Metallica videos is awesome! It's an absolute must for any Metallica fan! This video contains early stuff to St. Anger and all the great songs in between with some surprises. The videos are very interesting and cool. Typical Metallica.

In addition to every video they've ever made, for the first time ever the "2 of One," release (which up until now has only been available on VHS) will be available on DVD. All the audio has been re-mixed in 5.1 surround sound. Here is the track listing: One 7:41 Enter Sandman 5:28 The Unforgiven 6:21 Nothing Else Matters 6:24 Wherever I May Roam 6:05 Sad But True 5:26 Until It Sleeps 4:32 Hero Of The Day 4:30 Mama Said 4:51 (never aired in North America) King Nothing 5:26 The Memory Remains 4:37 The Unforgiven II 6:33 Fuel 4:35 Turn The Page 5:49 Whiskey In The Jar 4:43 No Leaf Clover 5:33 I Disappear 4:28 St. Anger 5:50 Frantic 4:55 The Unnamed Feeling 5:29 Some Kind Of Monster 4:28 Bonus 2 Of One - Introduction 5:43 One (Jammin' Version) 5:05 The Unforgiven (Theatrical Version) 11:29 Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster Film Trailer 2:27 12 of 14 people found the following review helpful

Just wanted to point out a couple of examples of the editing/censorship of the videos. In "Hero of the Day", some of the shots of the main character in bed with his girlfriend were cut out and replaced with shots of the program on the TV. And in "Turn the Page", the nudity was blurred out for our protection ;). There may be more, but those are 2 that I noticed.

Awesome greatest hits collection of videos, but beware this version is censored!,

This is the collection of pretty much all of the Metallica videos from 1989 through 2004 (yeah, pretty obvious from the title, I know). So as a die hard Metallica fan since 1989 (the first time as a 13 year old, I saw the One video on MTV, I was just floored by the power of their music), how can I only give this comprehensive collection only 3 stars?Well, don't get me wrong, the video quality is fine, sound is good on my 5.1 surround sound system. But the a number of the videos (Turn the Page, Whiskey in the Jar) as other reviewers have also noted, are the editted, censored version. Look, I'm old enough to have seen enough titties so it's not like I got this DVD to see tits, but it does bother me a bit that I don't get to see what the director/Metallica originally envisioned for their videos. So this gets 3 stars from me, but it's not really like we have another option to get the uncensored version. |
