For the "Metallica peaked with MoP" crowd- you know, not every fan who was there from the beginning hates the newer stuff.. hell, I like everything up to St. Anger and I might like that if it wasn't so horribly produced.

As for the collection, it looks good- I wish they'd been more complete about it though. Some of their "live" videos (i.e. Fade to Black from Binge&Purge concerts) had a lot more tv play than the "official" vids. And I see the full version of Turn The Page isn't here (unless it's an Easter Egg:-), but I guess that would have made the dvd X-rated. I'd still buy it, to get "2 of One" and the remastered videos in a nice package.

Just wanted to point out a couple of examples of the editing/censorship of the videos. In "Hero of the Day", some of the shots of the main character in bed with his girlfriend were cut out and replaced with shots of the program on the TV. And in "Turn the Page", the nudity was blurred out for our protection ;). There may be more, but those are 2 that I noticed.

HASH(0x9e35d414) out of 5 stars Awesome greatest hits collection of videos, but beware this version is censored! Sept. 7 2008
By JL - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
This is the collection of pretty much all of the Metallica videos from 1989 through 2004 (yeah, pretty obvious from the title, I know). So as a die hard Metallica fan since 1989 (the first time as a 13 year old, I saw the One video on MTV, I was just floored by the power of their music), how can I only give this comprehensive collection only 3 stars?

Well, don't get me wrong, the video quality is fine, sound is good on my 5.1 surround sound system. But the a number of the videos (Turn the Page, Whiskey in the Jar) as other reviewers have also noted, are the editted, censored version. Look, I'm old enough to have seen enough titties so it's not like I got this DVD to see tits, but it does bother me a bit that I don't get to see what the director/Metallica originally envisioned for their videos.

So this gets 3 stars from me, but it's not really like we have another option to get the uncensored version.

HASH(0x9e35d7c8) out of 5 stars Almost Great Dec 6 2006
By PhantomLord - Published on Amazon.com

I've been waiting for this release for a LONG time. It's great especially with the surround sound audio track. The 3 star rating is because the DVD is unfortunately censored. The videos that have profanity are censored like they were on TV and the "Turn the Page" video is the censored version that has all the nudity cut out. Same with "Whiskey in the Jar." It's not really all of their videos but I'll take what I can get! Also, the "Unforgiven (Theatrical Version)" and "One (Jammin' Version)" aren't in surround sound. No subtitles either. A solid 3. Maybe even 3.5.
HASH(0x9e397eb8) out of 5 stars Great collection of music videos Dec 13 2012

Metallica my favorite band so I have to be honest with myself and for the fans out their of there's. The total number of video's are 23 but their are two versions of one, and the Unforgiven. You have the about 7 and half minute one, and the short version video which is with the intro about 11 minutes making the video only about 5 minutes give or take for the other one video. The Unforgiven is about 6 and half regular cut, the full length video is 11 minutes. I ended up not liking 4 video's of the DVD collection. They were until it sleeps, Mama said, Whiskey in the Jar, and One Jammin version. But if someone was to ask my favorite videos of my favorite band it would have to be, One because of the story it tells about the solider and the injuries he recieves in war, Wherever I may Roam I like this video because of the shots of them on the road and all the fans going wild, King Nothing I enjoyed because of the location look like Russia, No Leaf Clover because of the shots with the SFO, St. Anger for it's location being filmed, and last two Noting Else Matters and Some Kind of Monster because it looks at the band in the studio and what they are going threw to keep the band going shows the fire they have to keep their music going no matter what. I eneded up seeing for first time 11 videos of Metallica's that I never saw before I bought this DVD collection. So if your a true fan buy this video collection and see how many of their video's you end up enjoying as much as I have over the years since I bought it.
