Impressive, mellow yet beautiful..,

First up just so you know I'm not a big Feist fan. I'm aware of her work, and most definately respect it, but not enough to "follow" what she's up to.. I picked this album up quite simply because the reviews are just phenomenal, and I wanted something mellow to throw into my music rotation. Just so you know, this is a very impressive piece of work, it's soft, melodic, sweet, and not to be "cheesy" but quite beautiful! When I'm stressed out and looking for something to chill me out a bit this album has been my "mellow weapon" of choice! The reviews (for a change) were right, this album isn't just a canadian gem, it's a musical gem. Mellow is good friendly readers, especially when it's done to perfection, you'll see!

Another masterpiece from Feist,

Feist keeps amazing me with her talent. Not only does she have one of the most beautiful contemporary voices, she is one of Canada's best singers in my opinion. I saw her on her last tour at the Capitol in Moncton, and it was one of the most enjoyable concerts I've ever attended. Her previous CD "The Reminder" is on my top ten list of all time. This one is more subdued, but no less entertaining. Bravo Feist and labelmate Dan Mangan who released "Oh Fortune" the week prior. Also kudos to label Arts & Crafts which continuously releases exquisite recordings; A&C is the best label hands down.

great music,

Fantastic music. I like it better than the Reminder. Beautiful rhythms (sometimes almost an Arcade Fire-esque use of big, driving rhythm) and harmonies, interesting lyrics and of course Feist's voice. It doesn't have any pop song-catchy tunes but is more meditative and is, as a whole album, a more cohesive musical statement than the Reminder. Can't stop listening to it!
