I had bought this book in my highschool days. In fact it had been a mix up with another titel I originaly had wanted. The Heyne paperback cover looked good, so I got curious. I realy enjoied it.
I can't understand why the movie, based on it, got so bad ratings. Its script was very close to the book content.
The cast had been just great and the filming had been top.
I belive the late Seventies just were not the time for dystrophic movies. It was the time of STAR WARS, BUCK ROGERS and STAR TREK reruns. Absolutly all positive visions.
This movie with its gloom massage sticked out like a shaggy scare crow next to the highway. Nobody wanted to see it. The audience had been overfed with dark scenarios and warnings. A few years erlier it might have become a success.
I recommand it highly.

A good old fashioned drop a big rock on the planet type of story. Astronomical, rather than alien-deliberate in this case.

Scientist types have to convince people that if this happens, it will be bad, and see if they can do something about it in time.
