what a sense of space, Mar 22 2007
By Stephen F. Spera "stephen spera" - Published on Amazon.com

there are many musicians in the idm/glitch/ambient (what do we call it now anyway?)
area doing fine work. but top among them i find the pieces turned out by chris herbert
to be at the top of the lis. its usually an 'undefinable something' that makes one piece
or another usuable for you- personally, i find herbert's sense of space to be superior to
many of his contemporaries. for example, the cut "elisa'- i could loop this for hours-
in any fine music, the sense of time/ timing is the crux of the piece. this works just as
well in hadyn or beethoven as it does in brian eno or chris herbert. i can only hope he
continues his explorations into the deeper recesses of spaces that can lift our spirits.
