Very Enjoyable Show.,

This review is from: Michael Flatley: Lord of the Dance [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
To even begin to appreciate this production you must erase the previous 15 year old original show from your mind. Once this is done just sit back and listen to the music and watch Michael Flatley and his wonderful cast. I love my Blu-ray version on our new 46 inch TV with surround sound. This Lord of the Dance version has been updated big time and adds a new visual dimension to the show. If you're new to Lord of the Dance you'll have the advantage of not comparing it to the original which is a problem for older fans like me who just adored the 1996 show. I do miss the female lead singer left out of this version but can see it was done to concentrate on the dancing and addition of several numbers from Feet of Flames. I did see the 3D version of this show on the big screen last year which I enjoyed and I'm glad the Blu-ray version has been made available. All in all, if you're a Michael Flatley fan add this one to your collection. If you haven't seen his Celtic Tiger production, I'd check that one out too. It's completely different from this one and a must to complete your Michael Flatley collection.

Good rehash of same material. Everything is revamped and improved and delightfully more... But more of the same.... Good for die hard fans or someone who doesn't own any of the other 2 or 3 DVD releases.

More Flatley, Less Story,
By
This review is from: Michael Flatley Returns As Lord of the Dance (DVD)
Rather than the magical tale woven so effortlessly in the original, this version seems so determined to focus on Flatley exclusively that it is to the detriment of the storyline. His talent is still formidable so it was not necessary; any number in which he performs shows that and he has nothing to prove. But by doing so, and with over-the-top sets and lavish special effects, it has lost its enchantment. Still worth purchasing though, if only to see that Flatley has lost none of his edge.
