5.0 out of 5 stars TRULY COMPELLING Jan 3 2002
Format:Hardcover
As a huge fan of The Jackson Family, I truly enjoyed this book.
Mr. Taraborelli gave a very unbiased and in my opinion honest
look into The Jackson Family. He carefully researched his subject
and the result is well worth the read. I've read several books
about Michael Jackson and every other book paled in comparison
to Mr. Taraborelli's courage to report the good and the not so
good side of this family. Many authors seemed afraid to take such a no holds barred approach toward their subject opting for
a more sugar-coated story. But not this author, he gave a very
insightful and indepth look into the real Jackson Family and he
leaves the reader with a deeper understanding of the eccentrices of Michael Jackson. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Magic and The Madness Indeed! 10 Stars! April 28 2002
Format:Hardcover
J. Randy Tarraborrelli has done it again! After the tell-all and very juicy let-me-lick-my-fingers-after-I-finish bio on Diana Ross got the music world in tizzy, he does it again! Hold on to something or call in sick for two days, then indulge in this literary calorie-filled dish fest. Randy uncovers it all, as he expertly tells the story of the outgoing boy Mike to the shy abused and withdrawn Michael. It's all here; his father's cruelty, his adulterous affairs, the catfight between Katherine and one of Joe's girlies, growing up with his brothers and his time at Motown.

Randy talks about the countless groupies Mike watched have sex with his father and brothers, the extramarital affairs the brothers got in to and their divorces. Apparently Jackie, the oldest brother, started having relations with Paula Abdul! His wife followed and caught them hiding in a car. When Paula's career took off as a choreographer, she never mentioned the help she received from Jackie-or ever mentioned him at all. Jermaine, who married Hazel (Gordy's daughter), had outside children like his father. He even brought his love child to parties with Hazel-much to her chagrin. The book also goes into the treatment the Jackson 5 got at Motown. It seems like Motown cheated everyone! Michael's solo years are also discussed in detail. Few people know what happened in the studios that produced the record breaking 'Thriller', but Randy tackles it all in almost 600 pages. Pick this one up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Michael, Motown, and more! Jan 9 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
This book is not only about Michael Jackson, but also about Motown Records, Berry Gordy, and the dynamics of America's #1 dysfunctional family, The Jacksons. Plenty of psychological profiles by a licensed therapist, which help to explain Michael's seemingly unexplainable motivations. Much more than a mere Michael Jackson bio, it also covers the rise to fame, and world surrounding Michael and his family. Taraborelli really did his homework, and you can tell that he really loves "The Motown Sound" regardless of the good and bad sides of the stories that unfold in this book. It's terrific reading whether you are a Jacksons/Motown fan or not. - Paula Martin -
