5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite guide to Paris Aug. 16 2011
By P. Rank - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have purchased several guides to Paris prior to my trip. They all were quite good, but in the end this was the only one I took with me, and I was pleased with my decision. My hotels were reserved well ahead of time and I was aware of various practicalities, e.g., how to use Metro and RER, where to buy groceries, etc. What I needed was a guide to various sites and a set of walking tours with maps. And this Michelin guide was perfect for that. The quality of the binding, paper, print, and maps is very high making reading the guide more pleasurable than some other guides I have.

I would definitely use it on future trips to Paris, and will be buying updated editions depending on how soon that will be.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Sept. 26 2011
By E. Caspi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The Michelin guides are a classic anywhere in Europe, and this one for Paris really shines. We relied a lot on the self guided walking tours in the book, and they were just fantastic.

This edition is just one in long line of editions on Paris. I have owned one or more for the past 40 yrs. I would never travel to Paris without one.

3.0 out of 5 stars My Precious Michelin Guide Mired in Electronic Quicksand May 19 2012
By Just Sayin' - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Since 1964 I have relied on Le Guide Michelin to navigate France, then Italy and New England. What a marvelous tool: accurate, scholarly, informative, in a word, definitive. And indexed to the hilt for easy navigation.

Alas, the electronic edition is essentially unsearchable. Keywords are useless to do the type of search required for the what, when, where, and how so essential to making the most of - for Americans in Europe - an expensive trip. I have stood fumbling ineffectually with my iPad and iPhone while the other members of my party stood by in patient boredom. I usually had mercy, and gave up the search.

I can fumble on my own. The treasure of information contained in the ebook Michelin Guides is safely locked inside, the clumsy navigation is the lock without a key. You can peer through the keyhole and glimpse the wonders within, but you can't make them your own.

Buy the real book. And this is the advice of a New Yorker who has so little room for more books or CDs that he downloads everything.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good in digital Sept. 3 2013
By William Guild - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While I have purchased and enjoyed many Michelin guides over the years, including the michelin guide to paris, I found the digital version nearly useless. Navigation was very difficult and I couldn't find anything I wanted.
