5.0 out of 5 stars microscopic sound, Nov 28 1999

This review is from: Microscopic Sound (Audio CD)
For those who enjoy electronic music, but have avoided the genre since the emergence of 'new age feel good' music that's drowning in reverberation, perhaps thirsting for something more up front, psychologically intense, or stimulating; this CD is for you-- It's on the opposite end of the spectrum from the ingenious and creative sensitivity of the Eno ilk, not a journey of timbre, sonorities or texture, but more in the vain of earlier pioneering works... One might characterize this collection as a contemporary 'beep squawk', with a rather serious, hard line digital edge, a purity and simplicity of voicing which can be quite refreshing when executed as artfully as this. As one might guess with electronic music in which texture is not at the forefront, these pieces are particularly focused in the dimension of rhythmic/metric permutation, which is too often considered as taboo or irrelevant by electronic composers. Hypnotic, contemplative. An ampoule of Morton Sabotnic injected into a super-computer, purified, and hot wired to your neural cortex! An amazing test for your sound system! ;-)
