A genuinely useful reference for the world's most popular spreadsheet March 13 2011

This book lives up to the usual Microsoft Press book standard, it is well written and a very useful reference. It is organised as most computer books are and easy to navigate with a thorough Index and good Table of Contents. Only the most demanding Excel user would find the book contents fall a little short in a couple of areas. But I would give it 8 out of 10 as a good all round Excel reference. It has helped me and I would recommend it.

A Thorough Learning And Reference Source For Excel 2010 March 2 2011
By Paul Richter - Published on

It should be said and a given that any electronic book reader will not be a good reference source. The printed book, however, is the most perfect of reference sources in my opinion. With that in mind, I would have to say that this book provides the most thorough learning and reference source for Excel 2010. Keep in mind, though, I think you should at least have some working knowledge of spreadsheets before jumping into this book.

a very good reference July 10 2013

I am a very big advocate of not only having a printed copy of a book to look down at while I use the computer; but I also favor PDF copies of the book with exercises (Microsoft fulfills all expectations in this regard). I am best described as slow and methodical and while it may take me a while longer to absorb things that a young computer genius may grasp instantly; I can assure you that when all is said and done that I will know the subject matter better than the young "shipper snapper." First the price is right, second because I knew that the subject matter would be difficult to grasp; I also ordered and received three weeks later, "Excel 2010, Step by Step" also from Microsoft Publishing and a tad easier. When used in concert; I have to say that I have impressed myself. Step by Step also is downloadable from O Reilly Microsoft books in PDF form at No charge once the paper back has been purchased--so go for it. Once you located the subject matter that you need using either Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader using "find" under edit, one can print the page and proceed with the exercise

Excellent May 11 2013

I find it rich in detail about many of the features of Excel. I would like it more if it had hands-on exercises or tutorials.
