5.0 out of 5 stars Probably my best hybrid experience Oct. 10 2013
By Amazon Customer TOP 500 REVIEWER
I own ipad, and android tablets. While each tablet has their own strengths, this tablet provides the most seamless experience as a tablet and kind of high end netbook. As long as you know what you are getting into, you should be fine. The OS on this tablet is Windows RT. While it looks and feels like Windows 8, it is not the full fledged Windows 8. You can only install apps from the Microsoft store. Means those .exe programs wont work on this tablet. So please decide what apps are crucial for you and then decide. This tablet meets all my expectations and works really well. I am happy with my purchase and fail to understand why it has got so much negative publicity. I purchased it after the price drop. I purchased it from Microsoft Canada directly as I was eligible for student discount at Microsoft store. So with the price drop and student discount this is such an amazing gadget. I love it.

What I like about this tablet
- the form factor is amazing. I love how I can switch from tablet to a mini laptop mode with such ease
- the build quality is fantastic. The metal finish is fabulous. Looks premium
- the touch keyboard while it looks flimsy and perhaps daunting, in actual use, I found it really good
- love the way the keyboard behaves as in it protects the screen when closed and as a netbook when used for typing, and when flipped backwards as in tablet mode, the keys are inactive avoiding accidental key presses. I think Microsoft has implemented this feature really well
- while people will lament about lack of apps on windows store, assess your need. All apps I need are available for free on the store
- love the Office suite preinstalled on the RT
- while it's not going to win any awards for trail blazing speeds, I found it to be snappy and responsive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it March 31 2014
By Alan
I have a playbook and an Asus Transformer, which are both good in their own way and have served a purpose. Playbook is now my permanent alarm clock, asus has been requisitioned by the kids. Picked this up on sale with low expectations and was shocked. Great screen, you don't need 1080 on a screen this small. (it will output 1080 to a tv..). Xbox music was the best surprise. also it works great for browsing, social media, news, netflix, etc. Tested some .mkv video files via usb stick formatted NTFS and it played a 13gb file via the app mobile.HD player with no problem. I don't play alot of games but it has a decent selection. I found that it took a bit or work to get it set up but now its a pleasure to use. Did I mention a USB port, micro hdmi and microsd card slot? Or the incredible battery life? and I don't even have the highly rated keyboard case yet.. An underrated product in my view.

2.0 out of 5 stars duped! Feb. 17 2014
I admit that this tablet does the basics. Unfortunately, you can't download Adobe, or Chrome, and its even impossible to download Microsoft Silverlight so that I can listen to my Audible books. So, if you want to type, this is your tablet. If you want your choice of programs, do not purchase this product. Many webpages are difficult to open and frankly, my netbook provides more web-satisfaction.

I do like the touch screen.... but all tablets have that feature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Windows RT Tablet - Must Have July 13 2013
By wworld1
i did not think i needed a tablet until i got one.
if you have a Windows 8 Phone, you will love this tablet.
MS Word, Excel, Power Point are included, so this tablet is great to take on the road which makes it super convenient. just pick up and gooooo!!
Some reviews ridiculously say Windows 8 is a steep learning curve. That is totally untrue.
You can figure out the basics in minutes.

PROS:
1. fast and fluid. even with only 2 gigs of ram its generally very fast.
2. swiping in from the left you have a bunch of apps in cue that open absolutely instantly! very very fast and makes for great multi-tasking.
3. Battery life is easily 8-9 hours.
4. Stand-by: just click the power button or flip the keyboard up and the unit goes into stand-by. leaving it on all night (7-8 hours) only depletes the battery 2%!
5. Snap-On Keyboard -
a. the powerful magnet just snaps on so you cannot make a mistake.
b. took only a few minutes to get used to it and works fabulous.
Easy to type, fast and light to the touch. i highly recommend the keyboard if you type a lot and the mouse pad is built in and makes for desktop/laptop like experience.
6. Solid Build - the quality of the workmanship is super solid. feels like this device will last for years. the metal and ergonomics are excellent.
7. Skydrive Backup - 7 gigs is a solid amount of extra storage and directly links to your Microsoft account.
8. SD Card - easily inserts and is nicely hidden behind the kickstand for up to 64 gigs extra storage.
9. Kickstand - very sturdy and pops out easily for a great viewing angle.
i could not imagine a tablet without this feature.
10. Takes about 5 minutes to learn the swipe gestures.
