Product Description

Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a humorous beat-'em-up action/adventure game that takes place in a haunted house full of dirty fightin' ghoulies. Gamers play the role of Cooper, a kid on a mission to rescue his girlfriend who has been grabbed by the ghoulies. Players venture through eerie Ghoulhaven Hall, battling it out with loads of creepy creatures while trying to escape the many tricks, traps, super scary shocks, and unexpected surprises along the way. More than 25 types of ghoulies will keep you on your toes, including vampires, zombies, mummies, skeletons, haunted furniture and the almighty grim reaper. Each ghoulie has its own crazed personality and style of attack, and they all fight dirty. Watch out, or you could be electrocuted, bitten, or mummified. More than 100 household objects are at your disposal to use as weapons. Bash ghoulies with chairs, pool cues, tables, pictures, and nearly anything else you can find in the house. For example, you can take on vampires with a garlic-firing blunderbuss, and douse Fire Imps with a fire extinguisher. Destruction, and there's lots of it, results in players being rewarded with 15 types of "power ups" including Power, Speed, Energy, and Super Weapon boosts. But try to avoid the Nasties (anti-power ups)! Damage stuff to uncover "bonus books," which open up a variety of cool bonus mini-games. Players can explore more than 50 rooms in giant Ghoulhaven Hall as they follow a twisted plot full of surprises, escapes, and rescues. There are tons of challenges to solve, and, not surprisingly, they conclude with players unleashing a bash-fest on the ghoulies.Featuring an easy pick-up-and-play style, Grabbed by the Ghoulies offers something for gamers of all ages and skill levels. Players will be instantly addicted to the simple gameplay, fun, and twisted satisfaction experienced when they bash ghoulies and bust stuff in the house.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks good.. but fairly repetitive, May 31 2004

This review is from: Grabbed By The Ghoulies (Video Game)
Sometimes I can play a game for hours and not even notice if it's repetitive or not. Grabbed By The Ghoulies was one of those games that I just couldn't get into. It's a haunted mansion romp that looks and sounds really impressive, but it's ultimately marred by repetitive, overly simple punch-and-kick gameplay that's compounded by the game's lack of length.
The gameplay in Grabbed by the Ghoulies is deliberately simple. The left stick moves Cooper, and the right stick controls Cooper's attacks.. fairly simple. While Grabbed by the Ghoulies may present itself quite well, the dull gameplay that hides behind the great graphics and sound really hurts the experience. The game's short length makes it perfect for rental, as most anyone should be able to blaze through the game and see many of its unlockable items within a day or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Play The game, Mar 13 2004
By
This review is from: Grabbed By The Ghoulies (Video Game)
The Story: When I beat Medusa in the Lighthouse Store I also beat the Imp in the Lighthouse Lantern Room. A Boathouse, the Lighthouse Living Quarters, a Woodshed and a Chicken Shed were really hard but I did it. This is a really difficult game and that made the victories all that sweeter! I didn't hurt Mr. Ribs just like the Cook told me not to. The animation was great! Cooper and Amber were boyfriend and girlfriend. Cooper saves Amber and she is grateful.

5.0 out of 5 stars good game, Mar 3 2004

Rare's first Xbox game has graphics a little better than most gamecube games. this is like Luigi's Mansion except you get to fight and use furniture as weapons, start where you were when the ghoulies grabbed you and the bonus challenges are better then vacuming up ghosts. Better story and enough but not to much cartoon violence, good game for kids. Older gamers should look forward to Teen rated Kameo: Elements of Power or Mature rated Conker: Live & Uncut.
