Strange compositions, but relaxing piano,
By
This review is from: Midnight Conversation (Audio CD)
We were both listening to this cd, and to my companion, the compositions seemed rather strange structurally--they seem to be trying to "go someplace" and get misdirected. That was the same observation I had--the music didn't go where I expected or have a satisfying resolution. However, that does add to the dreamy quality. The piano compositions here sounds pensive, relaxed, sleepy and this is a nice CD to put on for moody, rainy days or for late evening when you need to relax.

From Wind and Wire, Issue 6,
By Kathy Parsons - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Midnight Conversation (Audio CD)
This debut recording by Ken Elkinson is quiet, intimate, and deeply personal. His gentle, graceful touch never becomes cloying or cliched, and his use of changing rhythms within a piece keeps the songs fresh and interesting with repeated listenings. Although the mood of the CD stays soothing and restful all the way through, most of the pieces are distinctive and individual. All have a smooth easy flow, but there are darker passages and minor chord changes to give the album a broader musical palette of colors. I really like the lightness and elegance of "Waves", "Hope", and "Waiting", and then the contrasting darker chords of "Dancing Eyes". "Midnight Conversation" has a sweet poignance as well as a gentle urgency. The more solid, blocked chords in "Words Never Spoken" and the closing cut, "A New Day" give them a very classical feel wrapped around the tender "I Watch Her Sleep". I look forward to hearing more from Ken Elkinson in the future!

A Dazzling utopia of sound,

It was during a very difficult period in my life that I first stumbled upon the astonishing music of Ken Elkinson. Ken's music gave me the strength and inspiration I needed to continue and, finally, win my fight against drug abuse. Thank you, Ken. Your music will always be a part of me.

This cd is truly amazing. It took my breath away. I would almost compare it to a sweet iced tea on a hot afternoon. It really soothes my nerves & lulls me into a transquil moment. You must hear it for yourself. This is the best $ you can spend online.
