4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun...quickly! Jan 2 2008
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This shooter is a blast! It is easy to jump right in and start having fun either with the games's AI opponents or online. It features an interesting single player campaign mode as well. Difficulty settings can be set from novice all the way up 6 or 7 different settings to godlike.

If you like shooters get this game. It's full adrenaline, fast paced hilarious fun!

If there is one thing that UT does better than every other FPS on the market, its support custom content. While a lot of people felt UT3 was a step down, it was a step in the right direction.

Sadly, I don't think consoles were ready for UT. UT had a HUGE fanbase on the PC, and not a lot of them were ready to make the jump over to console. So this is why you find the game for so cheap. But as soon as I heard UT3 was going to support custom content on the PS3, it was a must get for me, and I wasn't let down.

First off the bat, there are 2 free map packs available for this game, not to mention the limitless amount of mods and maps made by users.

So why do I say if you like the original UT you may like this game? Because a lot of people have made re-makes of a lot of the classic maps we all know and love. Facing Worlds, Thorns, LavaGiant, and November just to name a few. If you search the internet, they arn't hard to find and there is a ton of custom content. Probably the only way you'll see Bomberman, Mario, Sonic, Master Cheif and Solid Snake having a shoot out. Yup, eat your heart out LittleBigPlanet, UT3 had custom user made levels a year before your release!

Over all, this game gets a 5/5 for its ability for custom content! (Sorry 360 users, your version doesn't support custom content, and you can thank Microsoft for THAT!)

2.0 out of 5 stars first edition re-release Jan 1 2008
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I have had this game in its various incarnations, since it was first released in the late 90's. All have had something new to make the game enthralling and exciting. Alas. this tradition is lost and the game has lost a lot of its magic in this incarnation.

Reading other reviewers, I simply could not believe what they were saying and decided to test it myself. Alas they were correct. Designed to be CPU intensive, memory intensive and graphics card intensive ... previous releases outstrip this game by miles and I'm sure this explains why its still sitting on the shelves in the stores.

Another avid fan bites the dust and in search of something new. Any suggestions?
