3.0 out of 5 stars Great knife but one significat flaw... Jan 13 2012

I bought this knife because of the S&W branding only to find out that it isn't made by Smith and Wesson at all, but from Taylor Brands, who apparently make good knifes but I still felt it was a little deceiving. The knife came sharp but had too fine of a edge on it, I quickly folded it over and had to put a slightly less find edge on it so it could handle aggressive daily use. After having the knife only a couple weeks I noticed that the "Magic" assist deploy lever had broken off internally. This is a design flaw in my opinion, the entire assisted deploy mechanism relies upon a very thin piece of metal which apparently can break off very easily with normal usage. Now for the good news...I still carry this knife because I can still deploy the knife with spring assistance using the thumb stud. Overall the knife is constructed very well, the 4034 steel blade is extremely durable and keeps its edge well with minimal maintenance. I can't recommend this particular knife design since it broke after a couple weeks of ownership, but I have already ordered the 2nd generation S&W knife that is comparable to this one and fully anticipate better performance. These knifes are only about $30-40 which seems to me like a good deal overall. I cant wait to review the 2nd generation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice One Handed Opening Knife Oct 3 2011

I got this knife to be my EDC knife. I wanted the MAGIC opening system and the safety lock features that Smith and Wesson have. I also wanted the non painted finish on the blade. Very happy with it so far, have been using it for about a month now. I did have to modify the pocket clip a little (it comes very tight) and loosen the blade up a touch to speed its opening. Nice edge from the factory. Very satisfied. Would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knife Oct 27 2010

I bought this knife about a week ago and it came 2 days early. It has a very strong swing action, is very smooth, and has a good weight to it. It is one of the best knives I have ever owned and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good, heavy knife. And with a name like Smith & Wesson backing it, you know it is of high quality and will last a lifetime. I will definitely buy another one, again a great knife.
