I bought this knife because of the S&W branding only to find out that it isn't made by Smith and Wesson at all, but from Taylor Brands, who apparently make good knifes but I still felt it was a little deceiving. The knife came sharp but had too fine of a edge on it, I quickly folded it over and had to put a slightly less find edge on it so it could handle aggressive daily use. After having the knife only a couple weeks I noticed that the "Magic" assist deploy lever had broken off internally. This is a design flaw in my opinion, the entire assisted deploy mechanism relies upon a very thin piece of metal which apparently can break off very easily with normal usage. Now for the good news...I still carry this knife because I can still deploy the knife with spring assistance using the thumb stud. Overall the knife is constructed very well, the 4034 steel blade is extremely durable and keeps its edge well with minimal maintenance. I can't recommend this particular knife design since it broke after a couple weeks of ownership, but I have already ordered the 2nd generation S&W knife that is comparable to this one and fully anticipate better performance. These knifes are only about $30-40 which seems to me like a good deal overall. I cant wait to review the 2nd generation!
