5.0 out of 5 stars Great Powerfull little Tool July 18 2014

This expanding tool is so great. Makes my job much faster and simpler. Swapping heads is a breeze and battery run and charge time is great also. Sounds to struggle with 1" but gets it done every time over and over. Get one if you do a lot of this type of pex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not quite ready for it yet May 25 2014

We have some pipe that is closing so will require in the future. Trying to be proactive instead of reactive. However, the price and the reviews dictated that now was the time to buy.

Awesome tool, easy to use. Expensive but it more than offsets the cost of calling a plumber for any future plumbing work

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Slick! Jan. 22 2011
By Bob - Published on Amazon.com
A friend (a plumbing inspector) borrowed this tool from a plumbing supply house to help me with an expansion of the WIRSBO(tm) PEX water supply system in my house. This tool makes expanding the PEX to slip over the connectors a breeze! I can only imagine how much better this is than the hand-operated tools. We did 22 connections in a little over an hour, and that included cutting existing lines to install tees. It's so easy: you just use the tool to expand the end of the pipe, slip it on the fitting, and give it 10 to 20 seconds to shrink. Not a single leak anywhere when we repressurized the system. I put pipe adapters on the ends of future expansion stubs so I could transition to copper, but now I'm going to use PEX. It's a whole lot easier than sweating copper or gluing plastic. (I don't know why Amazon thinks I'm in Mongolia instead of Minnesota!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee ProPEX Expansion Tool Oct. 3 2011
By Expose - Published on Amazon.com
I've been using this tool over the last two weeks for a copper to pex re-plumb and it's awesome! I can't imagine an easier or faster way to join pex. This tool makes the Uponor pex expander system the best pex system on the market. Once you have this tool you'll never go back to any other system.

Only problem is the kit does not come with a 3/8" expander head. I had to buy one for about 50 bucks. I like plumbing sink hot water supplies with a 3/8" home run to reduce the wait time for hot water. Because Propex expander fittings have a larger inside diameter than fittings from pex crimp systems the flow is more than adequate.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Right Tool fo The Job! Dec 21 2011
By D. L. Bowen - Published on Amazon.com
We have done two repipes, two remodels, and several repairs with this tool and it is terrific. Fast and effortless - way, way better than a hand expander (in a crawl space? really??). 1/2" and 3/4" are effortless. We've only done a couple 1" connections; didn't have any problems there either. One regular battery gets us through most of a 3/4" and 1/2" project - it comes with two,so you switch when it slows down. It does weird things if you don't grease it correctly (comes with the grease), and the bits are very hard - we broke the tip off of one dropping it on concrete (our fault :-o) For plumbing repair and remodel it is the cats meow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Speed your PEX installation Feb. 14 2012

This Uponor/Milwaukee tool collaboration (Milwaukee body and battery set, Uponor designed head)makes short work of PEX-A installations. The tool allows easy access into tight areas where the hand expander doesn't work well. The light on the tool makes working in dimly lit areas a snap. Battery life is good with half inch and adequate with 3/4" PEX. I can't comment on 1" because we haven't used it on one inch lines yet. For the price, this can easily cut a few hours off a large job and make tight installations in awkward spots a snap. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars For the at home user, it's reliable but pricey... March 3 2014
By Nathaniel Allen - Published on Amazon.com

I think my 3-star "it's OK" rating is fair for this expander for a couple of reasons:

- For the DIYer, such as myself, there are certainly less expensive expansion tools to choose from, some of which require manual action. This Milwaukee tool is preferable to grip squeezing, but at a price. I've already bought in to Milwaukee's 12 volt system, so it wasn't much of a stretch to give this tool my consideration.
- For the pro, or at minimum the daily user, I can see where this tool would be frustrating, especially on the 3/4" and 1" PEX. While it's more efficient than a hand tool, it's most definitely slow.
- While I'm touching on the negatives, I had to purchase a 3/8" head, which isn't included with the kit (a 1/2", 3/4", and 1" head are in the box). I realize not many folks are going to use 3/8" PEX in their systems, so it's understandable Milwaukee doesn't include this size, but it's another $50 out of my pocket.

The good news is this tool is a cinch to use, and perhaps because of its relatively relaxed operating speed, I haven't had a bad connection yet. In fact, short of forgetting to slip on a ring, it's about foolproof.

It was a little easier to make this purchase knowing Milwaukee will be there to support it if it needs work down the road at some point, and batteries shouldn't ever be scarce.

Despite all that, I probably clicked the "Buy It" button in a time of weakness -- I'm pretty sure I'd go with a different tool if I had it to do over again. But for my house project, and for very occasional future use, I'm happy to have it.
