I am a union pipefitter, most of my work is heavy commercial and industrial. I've been in the trade for fifteen years. In my experience milwaukee makes great tools. Their corded grinders are second only to metabo in my opinion. I had the pleasure of use one of their new cordless grinders with the 18v red lithium battery recently. I was on a powerhouse when me and my welder were asked to cut out and replace a for inch globe valve in a piping system. The line was sc 80 carbon steel in a horrible spot under a tank. The spot was too tight to use a portaband and a torch would have been dangerous. We decided to use a grinder with cut off disks. Unfortunately when we got to the tool crib they were all out of corded grinders, it being an outage and all. So we took a brand new milwaukee cordless grinder and figured we would have a long twelve hour shift ahead of us. After letting the battery charge (which only took an hour) I went to work. Forty five minutes and four cut off disks latter I was calling out to my partner to throw me the rope so he could haul the heavy valve out. After that I grabbed another battery just in case and started beveling the two pipe ends. Another hour and we had a couple nice bevels. Not bad for a cordless. I used up one battery and i'm guessing about half the other one. My partner and I fit tacked and welded the new valve in and were back in the break room before four thirty. Pretty darn fast if you had seen the location.All in all I was very impressed with the grinder. The power was good and it had a good charge per battery. The torque was less than a corded grinder but that just means you need to go a little slower and let the wheel do more if the work than your shoulder. The build quality was about the same as all the other milwaukee tool that have come out recently. That is to say, not as rugged as they were five year ago but still good. My finale thoughts are that this is a great tool with the capability to do heavy industrial work. Do I think I'll see many more on the work site a? No, corded grinders are cheaper with less parts to lose. but if your a small outfit this grinder could be a godsend when electrical outlets are scarce.

I read all the Amazon reviews, and purchased with a little apprehension. Did I say little? I own 3 corded 4-1/2" Milwaukee grinders, so this tool had some proving to do.I recently used it along side one of my other corded grinders. In this instance, I mounted a flap wheel to d-bur and finish sand a project. It took two batteries and 3+ hours to finish sand with the cordless.

The tool seemed well balanced and no heaver than my corded model. It was easier to maneuver than I thought, even with the battery mounted at the end, and obviously no cord in the way. Love the paddle trigger, not so wild about the safety, but I get it. "Safety"
Things it won't do:
You can't use this with the smaller batteries, don't even try! Use the XC's
It won't grind all day on a single battery, so don't expect it to. Two batteries are a must for jobs over 2 hours or so.
Things it will do:
Make smaller jobs a whole bunch easier and keep them smaller.
You can bare down on it, to a degree, but again don't expect it to act like a corded grinder.
Very good battery life.
With the reviews from Amazon customers, and a realistic expectation, I'm a very happy with this tool purchase.

I don't know how well I can really rate this thing since I bought it for my husband and I have never used it. He tells me that it's awesome and I see him use it on a weekly basis. My hubby is hard on tools and this thing seems to be lasting very well. It holds a charge very well. So I'd say it was a very good purchase!
